Ohh... In my lang, we say the same word 'Amma' for mom .... I have a konkan family (migrated) near my house, but they call their mom 'Aayi' ... so i didn't assume you'd be konkan :)

We speak South Indian Konkani dialect because our community has been living in Kerala for generations. We migrated from Goa generations ago around the time when the Portuguese invaded Goa and forced the natives to convert from Hinduism to Christianity.

Hmm.. Interesting to hear that ! It's also sad that our country has been invaded by soo many ppl that sometimes I wonder how we sustained from all of that and kept our cultures and traditions intact for these many years !!
