How to learn the Mohawk, or Spread Eagle, on inline skates. I show you how to step by step build up to getting your feet and hips opened up enough in order to do the Mohawk. Most powerskating drills are easier to do on the ice, but I find that learning this skill is just as easy on rollerblades, so it's a great option to work on during the ice hockey off-season!

This is different , And the best Mohawk tutorial I’ve seen on YT. All the others made it so complicated... I could never get anywhere with them. But 5 minutes(!) after watching THIS vid-I found myself accidentally doing a Mohawk (!) Not very well , but nevertheless... :))))) TyVm

VonJhonn Thank you very much😊 Glad I could help! It just takes a bit of practice; I find a lot of people are scared of Mohawks but they’re not as hard as most people think!

Absolutely .. No one couldn't have said it any better VonJhonn. He broke it down for noobs like me... I had lost hope on ever attempting this when I watched others explain it.. I guess they skipped the most important steps to lay out for peeps like me... but now I get a little mohawk glide at least for 2-3 secs.. practice makes perfect though!

Thanks for the rollerblade tutorials, I’ve just recently got rollerblades so I can continue to improve over summer as I plan to join a hobby league this winter - apparently they’ll take a 41 year old beginner.

Hey Marcel, super good video. Would it be possible to make a video on backwards crossovers / more backwards skating / transitional skating moves on inline skates?
@MarcelsHockeySchool
@MarcelsHockeySchool 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Trevor, thanks. I haven’t really done much of that because I’ve covered all of that in my on-ice videos already. But I’m seeing a lot of people that are also interesting in just the inline stuff. So it’s something I’ll definitely think about!

@@MarcelsHockeySchool That would be awesome! I'm definitely part of a niche that has taken up inline hockey as a covid hobby. The ice stuff is great, but it's a bit tough to tease out what I can and can't do on rollerblades. Cheers, and thanks again!

For the first time today, I cracked the one foot lift drill (I'm able to mohawk ok both directions already) and realised that I was putting my weight on the front foot before, when I shifted to moving it to the back foot, it just clicked!

This is a great video. Very informative. Thank you for making it. One question I have is personally I am unable to get any traction when trying to roll my wheels out at the beginning. Do you have tips for those "heavier" skaters to go lighter on their feet ?
@MarcelsHockeySchool
@MarcelsHockeySchool Жыл бұрын
Your welcome! If you’re having a hard timing rolling them out, then try shifting your wait to the other side, onto the foot that isn’t rolling. This should allow the other foot to roll out.

Mike Choiniere Thanks! I’ve actually been struggling a bit to find wheels that I’m happy with on asphalt. I’ve tried everything from soft indoor wheels to hard outdoor ones; they all have great grip for 2-3 skates, and after that it’s slide n slide :(

Hello Marcel, thanks for the video, I can"t mohawk at all. I can mohawk turn around a pylon, but I can't mohawk and making big circles/mohawk on straight line. It kills my knees and hips to try to do it, what would you please recommand ?
@MarcelsHockeySchool
@MarcelsHockeySchool 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Arthur, if you can Mohawk around a pilon, that's already pretty good! In a game, you probably won't need much more. You don't really need to be able to do one in a fully straight line, and that is difficult for a lot of skaters. For a big circle, I would recommend just T-pushing around the circle at first and then gradually opening the back foot. Also, streching/mobility exercises for your hips are always a good idea; I could use some more mobility myself!

Hallo Marcel !

LG Marcel

you don't really need to open it that much to start. Start at 90 degrees, so basically a T. Start pushing, then gradually try to increase the angle!

you mentioned your weaker side: what ratio do you think most fairly proficient skaters are with their strong to weak sides ? Eg 60-40, 70-30 etc?'
@MarcelsHockeySchool
@MarcelsHockeySchool 2 ай бұрын
I’d say 60-40 but I think it can be more with very specific skills. Like with a tight turn I’m pretty close to even both sides but hip-opener left foot forward is waaaay worse, also because I very seldom need it in a game because it’s my backhand side.

I don't play hockey, but I'm trying to learn to inline skate and it just looks like having a stick would help with learning and balance. I'm sure I'd look stupid with a hockey stick but I'm seriously considering it......

Ist es normal, dass man auf den Inlinern eher auf der Innenkante steht?
@MarcelsHockeySchool
