In this episode I get a real taste for what Project Zomboid is like outside of my safe town in Rosewood. I head to March Ridge to move into Phase one of the endgame content.

Get a huge horde, go to a rowhouse whit a 2x2 toilet, hold alt + space + attack. The result whit multi hit. A masacure. Try it.

this is Survivor default settings by the looks of it.. even Apocalypse is too easy once you learn the game.. the game doesn't get hard until you play with sprinters.. and with mods can be made even harder cuz guess what, sprinters alone is still not hard enough

Try to play around with hitting zombies on ground, for some angles your swing doesnt hit where your crossahair is, you cannot rely on the outline. You have to aim lower or higher based on where the Z is and where your crowbar will land. Hit with the weapon not with the aim reticle. 7:40 The crowbar missed the Zed it landed between its arm and shoulder. Amazing work, if only there was a way to play coop someday. :D

I think sometimes in zomboid you get into a comfort zone that can get violently interrupted by a nasty chomp. I think, for March Ridge a good approach might be taking a shotgun, probably a sawn-off js-2000 they can get in really big hordes throughout the town. In the end I ended up making a rooftop shooting gallery on the Giga Mart Roof just to play with scoped rifles a bit. Loving the series so far, shame about the two monther! Best of Luck!

Personally managed to get away from a really nasty horde after raiding a police station with NOTHING inside, found a really isolated comfort zone, and then helicopter event did it's thing

Honestly mate I think you're doing a grand job! Having watched since the start I can tell you've definitely been improving in leaps and bounds each episode, I'm glad you're not giving up either even when it gets frustrating (and i know it does). On of the great things about PZ is, not matter how long you've played or how good you are, the gsme always finds a way to remind you.. this is how you died! 😁

A swing and a miss at a zombie going over the fence, has happened to me many times, so many times that I'm very cautious when zeds are flopping over the fence. It's not worth it when there is more than one flopping over the fence. A good way to practice is to turn off multi-hit and give sprinters a try.

@@themudpit621 You may find yourself outnumbered in a fight at some point in your life. You won't be hitting multiple opponents with one swing. Hopefully, you've played football or have some boxing experience. Both sports teach how to keep functioning after being hit. Otherwise, it's game over.

check your shoes more often... I think the reason you got bit on your foot was because you already had a hole in that shoe. (at least if you wear militairy shoes. they have 100 bite prot, so you can tank 1 hit but then it has a hole and 0 prot on that foot so then you are in risk of a bite.) My tip ALWAYS check your shoes every so often (like once a week or maybe 2 weeks.) and just replace them, militairy boots arent that rare and you should always have a couple spare ones... You did good! learn from your mistakes and keep trying. thats the beauty of zomboid, you learn from every death :) edit nevermind I rewatched the clip, I am sleeping... you didnt got bit on the foot haha but the arm... but still the shoes tip is great XD

Note protection usually is just the chance to reflects hit, even with 100 protection you can still be wounded, just the chances are much lower

I died first trip into March Ridge, to raid the Video Store from the Rosewood FD. Used the book, geared up, and took a sacrificial car, a shotgun, and a seatload of shells. Did a bunch of window down drive bys to gather them, then eventually rolled up the window and did reverse donuts through them until they were all squished. Busted the car up, but I had my best rig already there, loaded with loot, for the drive home. Still need to go back and hunt my old self down, that me had a load of good stuff

😂 yeah i remember that the learning curve for this game is deep. This time (my first video watched of yours) for you. You learned even with the hit outline you can still miss if your not in the right spot. Fix for that is better to be 100% sure you're in the right spot than MEH maybe. Also always be ready to move. Not sure if you did but if you ever pick clumsy? DON'T, never ever do it. That second one. You got too much into that thing I call "the new body rush". That's when you get in a rush to recover and get back into the flow. Nope slow it down.

@@ImJPGz thanks. Best way to play the game I found out is by being as methodical as you would in reality. It looks like you about at the top of better than advantage. Also ever notice how sad it is to hear those zombies snacking on you while looking at the details of the runs. Man that's the devs just rubbing salt in the wounds.

@@ImJPGz lmao. Yep also one reason I'm always running cat eyes. I don't mess with the games lighting. Yet noticed my room light screws with my in game nights. Any room light messes with playing this game. It's one of the first games I've played I noticed that in a dark room is the best lighting to play under.

Tough times in March Ridge. I was just thinking "might be time to turn off multi-hit" because you were handling combat so well, and then, MUNCH! If you hate the fence lunge, you can turn that off in the sandbox settings. You can learn to avoid it, but it's a frustrating mechanic. As for new trait choices, only Sunday Driver stands out as a problem pick. For 1 point it is a very punishing choice. Slower driving, weak towing, getting bogged down off-road and by zeds around the car are all big problems. You could easily drop Lucky as well, unless you're on the hardest loot settings you'll not struggle to find gear. Dropping Eagle Eyed is no problem, you might want to try Keen Hearing though. Short Sighted and Thin Skinned aren't too bad to take if you want some spare points to play around with.

I highly suggest you don't adopt a strategy of "clear every house one by one" in March Ridge. They are just too stacked on top of each other. It's like a smaller, very dense Louisville, with not a ton of obvious loot. Here's a strategy: bring a propane torch and welding mask. As well as a few metal sheets. Get into a house from behind, like you did, then seal all the windows and the door. (Don't try this with carpentry barricading with wooden boards: it takes too long and makes too much noise.) Now start screaming your head off. You'll attract the horde of zombies in the streets to the house you're in, and they'll start beating everywhere. Metal sheets take a long time to break down, and you can use that time to go out the back of the house, and sneak around. Another good thing about March Ridge is just around the entrance, there's a lot of room that's just trees and empty fields. Get zombies following you, light a molotov, throw it, and then just walk around. It'll take time so have plenty of water and food. You can corral them easily without getting close to the buildings, and they'll all die, allowing you to get to the military apartments right from the front door. You can do this in the parking lot of the apartments too, very easily. My advice is don't try to live in march ridge. Just go to get some video tapes. It's much easier to build a base at the highway intersection crossroads that link Rosewood, Muldraugh, and March Ridge. No zombies spawn there, it's unlikely the ones on the Rosewood highway will wander over to bother you, and it's just much more convenient in general. There's a ton of cars to dismantle or run off the road, but that's a temporary problem.

@@ImJPGz Yeah, that suggestion about the molotovs is the way to go. Just have lots and lots of patience... Also, the two residential areas of town are not really worth looting. If you draw the zombies to the outside edges of those, far away from the center of town then it doesn't really matter if those areas burn.

F for the cutie that almost made it to 100 days but congratulation for surviving this long, small tip for the fence ---> Push or hit the zombie that is fencing they won't lunge at you after that due to being stunned. Good stuff keep it up mate

With fences you want to bait out the lunge by staying just out of range. That way they lunge but you’re still safe and can line up a easy shot while they pick themselves up

You could try setting an alarm clock to go off to lure the zombies away from where you want to loot. Another option is to find a vehicle that runs but you don't care much about and to run over zombies by doing donuts (in reverse so you don't damage the hood and engine).

The progression from "fences get you free kills" to "fuck everything about fences" is a natural arc in the career of every PZ player. 😆Hitting crawlers is awkward in general and then the fence-lunge move on top of that is just not worth the risk that much. Especially when you have enough weapon skill that you're not really desperate for the "free" damage.

Keep in mind that even if you're targeting a zombie, there is a chance your character will miss. Sometimes, it's just better to reset your position. You're doing great and keep it up!

Love your stuff. Maybe a little to short. Make them two or three days long in game, and around 20 to 30 minutes long. Just because I like your stuff. The only thing I've seen with the fences, is turning your back to them before they jump over. Well good luck in the future.

I've started keeping a text file of deaths coz I've played so long (years) I forget the old lesons. Now, I got a file with things like "Never run and hide in a room with one entry point" then later "I mean it, stop hiding in bathrooms!" lol.

You made a lot of decisions that were really good. You're getting good :-) The end game is spears pretty much, and they are devastating when you have high carpentry and maintenance, so consider handy rather than dextrous and graceful.

Tip: always keep a hammer on your belt for if you have to disassemble objects for nails to add escape ropes/barricade. If you build up short blunt a bit it can also double up as an additional weapon. 🙂

Yeah, mate. I've also had my oddball death scenarios. There are plenty of quirks in the game that can get you killed. xD One of my most recent deaths was when I was using a tall fence to jump when I needed to rest off the exertion after smacking a lot of zombies. Basically, it's a long kiting job with occasional smacks with a crowbar. Well, I was at the point where I was getting to the end of the fence to go behind it, for some stupid reason when I engaged the shift run it turned me slightly and it caused me to run in front (the opposite side of the fence that I was wanting to be on) straight into the zombies that I was slowly killing off... But, when you encounter these quirks and die to them. You learn, begin again, and make sure you don't make those same mistakes again. :)

THAT'S the thing with these zombies. Allll they need for YOU to do is...MESS up juuussttt ONCE. Too confident, mis time a swing, get caught in tight quarters annnddd they got ya. I got like 700 hrs and just a couple of days ago, a two month run, one, ONE of them in a corner of a tight room annnddd chomp. Dang it.

Get a horde, go to a 2x2 rowhouse toilet, hold alt + space + attack to do a masacure whit multihit. If you wounder why this combo, the zeds can prety mych only go to you if you got a door behind you. When they enter the window after you some will lunge the becus youre attacking them when they are down the zeds take a lot more damadge. For the best effect, die and make a new caracter whit fitnes 9, strength 10, axe man (lumberjack) and a woodaxe. Wood axe can hit 3 zombies, strength 10 prety much garante you killing them, fitness 9 for endurance +faster attack speed and axe man for faster attack speed. Try it and it gona work great

@@ImJPGz I agree with what @sebastianengstrom4998 said. Some advice on your new build. Graceful isn't really doing anything, and is just a waste of points. Lucky doesn't help as much as most people think. You would be better off getting Athletic instead, and getting your fitness up to 9, you WILL notice a difference. Cat`s eyes and Organized are both nice quality of life traits, but are not very impactful to the overall abilities of your character. I would save those for when you`re so good at the game you start getting bored... Very Underweight is a HUGE hit to your abilities, and takes way too long to fix. You would be better of with just Underweight and maybe Unlucky, and then just eat a stick of butter, chug a bottle of Bourbon before bed, eat a bag of dried beans, drink a bottle of cooking oil, something high calorie like that, on top of your normal food and it only takes a couple of days to get up to a normal weight and the negative trait goes away. Try to avoid any trait that negatively impacts Strength and Fitness. The one exception is Underweight, because it can be fixed so quickly. Probably one of the best builds in the game is Lumberjack with Strong, Athletic, Brawler, Gymnast, Brave, Outdoorsman, and Wakeful. I personally also get Dextrous and Fast Learner as well. The better negatives to choose from are Weak Stomach(cook your food), Unlucky, Underweight, Thin-skinned, Slow Reader, Slow Healer, Smoker, Short Sighted(just spawn with glasses), Prone to Illness, High Thirst(just carry two water bottles), and Conspicuous. Though I don't usually recommend it, if you have to take a panic trait take Claustrophobic. You can either drink yourself to sleep, OR take sleeping pills (not both!) to counter it early on, and later your character`s panic recovery speed will be high enough that it no longer effects you. Level your shooting with a shotgun WHEN YOU WANT TO PULL ALL THE ZOMBIES to a particular location. Like when you have a nice molotov for them... Use an Axe to kill large groups of zombies because it will be one-shotting them with this build, and use a Crowbar on individuals and small groups. The crowbar lasts dang near forever, and saves wear and tear on your axes. If you really want to make a shooter build while Veteran is an okay-ish choice, between the two shooter occupations you would be better off going Police Officer and taking Brave for the same point cost. You don't lose that much as far as panic goes, because again your character`s panic recovery speed will eventually cover the difference, and you get an additional level of Aiming and a free level of Nimble. The Nimble alone more than makes up for it. Always carry Vitamins for emergencies, and a couple of Molotovs. ************** There is an annotated map of March Ridge that make that apartment building a survivor house. The entire Building. This MORE than quadruples the amount of Guns, Axes, Machetes, Ammunition, etc.. that you get from it. Emphasis on more... Before you set foot in that building, get that map!******** This might make up for the living hell you will be walking into. All those zombies in a cramped interior... Make sure to bring sheet ropes and nails!

Just for being so awesome, the Herbalist book, in addition to letting you identify poisonous berries and mushrooms(which can be safely composted), lets you make poultices that pretty much counter the Slow Healer trait when combined with leveling your First Aid skill, combined with decent wound care. i.e. Disinfecting a wound, Stitching a deep wound, using sterile bandages or rags, splints etc... Plus Pharmaceuticals like Antibiotics, etc. THEN You use the poultices to kill infections and speed healing on top of it. It`s an extra modifier for recovering from wounds. For long term survival, the best ways to get food is Fishing, Then Trapping, Then Foraging, Then Farming, Then Stockpiling Canned Food for the winter. In your area, there is a small lake over by the bus station for fishing.

You need a m249 with about 1000 rounds and 5 box mags… to even think about clearing the military apartments and you still might not make it

Hey Leon, yes it's a mod on the steam workshop. I think it's call skill recovery journal. Really useful if your getting use to the game.

Bites are 100% Knox infected. Lacerations from zeds has a 25% chance to turn you and scratches from zeds has a 7% chance.

There is an annotated map for that big dorm/apartment building. If you find it, the building will have more guns, ammo, and food in it than normal. When I play in Rosewood, I usually do a stealth run into March Ridge(unless I have that annotated map I mentioned). I drive down the highway and park about two-thirds of the way there. I go through the woods, which usually doesn’t have a lot of zombies, and jump both fences. The second fence is the schoolyard. The school is across from the community center, which is the goal. That place has the biggest library outside of Louisville. Two floors worth of books! I always find at least one generator book there. I move fast and quiet looting the ground floor first, then go upstairs. I sneak out the back way through a storage room and down the back stairs in case Zeds are pathing to me from behind.

March ridge is too risky for the little loot there is, it is a place with only residential houses and some shops, in the veteran hotel you can get weapons tho I'd almost rather go to Louisville

March Ridge is a easy map. I play game over night about 8h and I very asleep. But I wasn't bitten by horde. This way is craft a campfire, fighter or matches. Build campfire and call in zombies. Light camp and burn them. Very cheap, very easy
