Spaniard here, of military age in the transition years between the CETME C and L. Unanimous opinion among servicemen? The C was an indestructible, reliable monster of good ol' wood and steel, kicking like a mule but that would never let you down. The L thing was a plastic toy that you couldn't stare at from a distance without it spontaneously disassembling, guaranteed to jam every five shots, three if shot in anger. Imagine that in the hands of an army of conscripts from a country with no gun culture. Truth be told, the original design was really good, it was the bean counting at mass production that altered the specs and screwed it all up (early production guns are still in service and working fine). Also, the ergonomics rationale for having to push a button in that weird position to hold the bolt open was a mistery for all involved. So, great review, man.

Yes the L was a great idea executed poorly. Seems like they took no input from actual soldiers.

Mine has been very reliable with all ammo, tula included. One issue I’ve had though is over the time the gun damages feed lips on the steel mags. It will put dents in the front. The mags work fine with the dents in the cetme but will cause jams in other guns. So you have to take a few mags aside and dedicate those only to the cetme

Update on my Cetme L. I could not get it to function reliably with any 55 62 or 77 gr brass. It did shoot steel ammo. I got a F/A bolt carrier from Apex and swapped the bolt carriers from the original to the surplus F/A. Runs like a scalded dog now, shoots everything including frangible ammo. I compared the F/A surplus carrier to the one from Marcolmar and other then the cuts Marcolmar added to the underside I can't fine the difference except the tail seems to be a little bit thinner? Weird.

I have both the CETME L and LC, both run great. For some reason mine can run with Tula ammo no problem. On my L I opted for the rail and put a red dot on it.

Agreed, I have three and never had the intention of actually treating them like I do my AR's. When the parts dry up and these are no longer made the investment will show it's value. I may end up just shooting one on occasion and leave the others as unfired for collector value.

Original Spanish steel mags are available now for not much in 12 and 30 round versions. These are copies for Belgian FNC mags and they work great. They are particularly easy to disassemble for cleaning. I think you'll find that most .223 ammo will work just fine after the initial break-in period with MILSPEC 5.56 ammo.

I love historic fighting rifles. Fal's, G3's, M1A's and have always wanted a Cetme LC after I saw the hottest female cop I've ever seen in my life carrying a Cetme LC in Barcelona! It's like she had her pants custom made for her....anyway, back to the rifle. I picked up a MCM Cetme LC with the rail and love it! It has been 100% reliable with all ammo and is reasonably accurate. About 2.5 MOA with trash ammo and a dot sight. I'll take that! I'll echo that is is not a home defense or go to war rifle. Use a quality AR every day and twice on Sunday. My choice is a PWS MK-116, or a MCX...but for a great shootable piece of history, which will make people at the range ask what the heck it is...this one is a winner!

Agreed. Not a perfect gun by any means but a very cool one that I saw growing up as a kid in the 1990s and thought I would never be able to own. Now I have one that I can actually take out and enjoy at the range.
@looneytuneslefty48112 жыл бұрын
That manual tells you it needs the 556 for break in. It should function with wolf after you put enough nato brass downrange. I also own a C93 and I can tell you it is most certainly worth more than a 1000. Mine has HK parts and is the most accurate 556 I own. Closest thing to an HK33 in 556 you're going to get for less than $3000+ IF you can find an MKE. The HK version, Ive seen anywhere from 4000 to 5000.

I have a 33 and a z43 rifle. The c93 is ok but not close to the zenith. C93s vary in quality dramatically. I’ve had 3 2 were ok shot pretty good. 1 was complete garbage. Not the parts but the receiver. It was completely out of spec
@looneytuneslefty48112 жыл бұрын
@@psp1921tsmg They had several different builders. The gray ones are shit, but the first run and the PTR made ones are excellent. I've never had a malfunction and I've used it in several rifle competitions. I also bought mine for $650 with HK bipod and 3 45rders. But, I wouldn't sell it for $1500 if offered. Again, those MKEs, which are practically unobtainium, go for more than double that...

With me, I understand the quirks of the design- and is what it is. BUT where I care is reliability- I don't like paying 1400 for a rifle that wont shoot- so as long as it runs- manual of arms is what it is.

I was interested in one of these because I live in a ban state. I have a 9mm PTR and was hoping for the same manual of arms in a rifle cartridge without going to the weight of the G3. The difference in the manual of arms is a show stopper though. What were they thinking having controls way up by the rear sight block? That's not what hands are shaped like!
