You don't realize how much a pet can become a family member. We loss our Leesto too, to this day we cried when we talk about him. He love to travel and listen to music, thinking that he was singing with the radio he would howl. No matter how much we tried to replay him there is no one dog like him. I am so sorry that you have lost your very special dog. In 54 years of our marriage we have had 5 dogs; they stay with us a very long time. It has never been easy to say goodbye as they fill such a void when the children leave the nest. They are constantly with us and love us unconditionally. There is a very special relationship between us and our pets ; each different and unique. The pain right now is very raw! I 2:19 know that pain. Give yourself time to grieve and right now you are probably thinking “I cannot love again” but you will! You will find that Miley will send you the perfect dog at the right time.

Sorry for your loss. I know everyone appreciates you sharing and it also helps you with the healing when you can talk about her. I lost my dog Perry during Covid. I took him to the vet because he got sick. I had to wait in the car with him and he passed before they could see him. It took another year but we found another great dog.

I'm so sorry for the pain you're all experiencing. You were blessed to have each other for 16 years and it's like losing a child or best friend. I'm glad you will take time to heal and just process this before returning to vlogging. The longest I ever had a dog was 13 years and 3 months. Her name was Cisco (Cissy) and I got her at 8 weeks old from a mobile adoption van. She had already been spayed and I thought how could something so young and small have already gone through so much? The loss of her mom and litter mates and the whole thing. Well she was a delightful dog. She was all black and had a 3-layer coat which was thick and curly. I would get her clipped all the way down several times a year for her entire life. She loved to swim and loved to explore and her favorite thing was to go for rides. She would never sit or lay down in the car. If we were driving slowly enough to have the window down, her face was sticking out. I used to watch her glee in the side mirror and just smile. You did the right thing when you decided to release Miley. There comes a time when loving them means letting them go. It's so hard knowing just when that right time is but you always do know, in the end. I hope you don't wait years to find a new baby to love because, although no dog can ever fill the shoes of the one you lost, they all grow on you and fill the empty place in your heart. Eventually, you're surprised to find you love them almost as much as the one you lost. Maybe even the same amount. Please don't leave that place empty for too long. God bless you all. 🕊🙏🌹

Oh, Marcy. I'm so sorry. This breaks my heart. This is a very hard thing to go through. We had to go through a similar situation less than 2 years ago. Our 14 year old Schnauzer, Loki, had a growth on his chest. We had it removed, and did a dental at the same time. He was doing great with recovery for about a week. Then all of a sudden, he stopped eating, and never got better. It was such a gut punch to try to help him and have it backfire. I still miss him even though we have since brought in an amazing little Malshi. You have to go through the grieving process, and work through your emotions. Lots of love, and my heart is with you guys through this tough situation.

Wow, I've been catching up on your videos. I am so, so sorry, I went through a similar situation with my Jack Russell Terrior Plato who was 16.5 yrs. It took well over a year to finally get another JRT, his name is Jake. I wasn't sure I could love another dog like my Plato but Jake is amazing too. I wish I could send you pictures! Oh Marcy, I am literally in tears as I watch this tribute to your little Miley! I am so very sorry for your loss. Our fur babies are like our children, and when they are rescued by us, they are so appreciative. I lift you and your family up in prayer, during this very difficult time. I can see through your videos that Miley was very much loved. I hope you don’t mind if I share my story with you…… I’m so sorry for the long story. ❤ I had to take a step back from social media for a while as well, so I totally understand what you are going through. I took a trip back home to Las Cruces, to say ‘goodbye,’ to my auntie two months ago. Upon returning from my trip, our fur baby (Otis), who was 14, and who we rescued 7 years ago, took a turn. His blood sugar skyrocketed and he had pancreatitis. He was in so much pain, and he quit eating, was losing a pound a day, he quit going outside to do his business, and would literally stand by his water bowl and would drink incessantly, only to vomit it all back up. We took him to the vet 3 days in a row, and on the third day, we were told that his body was going into shock. We had to make the hard decision to put him down. This little guy came to us, because my husband, who is retired law enforcement, found him running down the street, he had torn away from his original mama, who was 90 at the time, and living in a high end assisted living facility. He took off and was heading toward a very busy intersection. My husband rescued him from getting hit, and took him back to his mama. His name was ‘Pucci.’ Two weeks later, my husband saw the lady without her dog, and asked if all was well. She immediately began to cry, and told my husband that her dog had bitten a resident at the home, and that he was no longer welcomed there. She told my husband that her dog was fostered out, and could my husband adopt him. My husband came home, and told me the story. Being dog lovers, and already having our little Chiweenie rescue (Mindy), at home, we didn’t hesitate. We immediately drove to the location, and our hearts sunk. It was in the middle of summer. Pucci was tied up to a picnic bench, in the dirt, had hot spots and was riddled with fleas. Pucci went from being a pampered pet in a high end facility, to living in the dirt, tied to a picnic table, because the foster parent lived with his mother, that didn’t want the dog in the house. Pucci’s coat was filthy. We immediately took him to our vet, who cleaned him up, treated his hot spots, and fleas, and we brought him home. He was a Brussels Griffon with THE cutest little cranky old man face with eyes like a baby seal. Did NOT look like a Pucci, so I renamed him Otis. 😊 We had a queen sized bed at the time, because it was all we needed for hubby, Mindy, and myself. When Otis began pushing us towards the edge of the bed throughout the following nights, we KNEW we needed to upgrade to a King sized bed. God put my husband on that street that day, because HE knew that Otis needed us, as much as we needed him. The night before Otis died, he would wander to parts of the house, that he would never hang out in. My husband took him to the backyard, where he would wander to my very large fig tree. The fig tree that would bear beautiful fruit, but the fruit was not juicy, nor was it sweet. I had that fig tree for 8 years, and was thinking about having it cut down. Even my gardener was shocked at how beautiful the ‘tasteless’ fruit was. Marcy…..Otis would stand and look at the tree. He did this 3 times, the night/morning before he passed. I KNEW he was talking to God. He was ready to go. We weren’t ready!!!!!! Three days after Otis passed. I walked out to my fig tree. Angry and hurt. MARCY! I picked off a fig and it was dripping with nectar. I split it open and took a bite. It was sooooo sweet and soooo juicy! Mind you, two weeks prior, my gardener and I were chatting about how horrible they were. I knew that Otis was happy in Heaven, where he was pain free. Where he could run like he did when he was a puppy, and was probably creating as much havoc and giving as much love, as he did when he was with us. ❤ I needed to share with you. I know that with time, and with prayer, we will get through this. We had a private cremation for Otis. He now sits on the table, beneath our TV. ❤ Please take care!
