Marinsky, thank you very much from Missouri, USA. I am always fully taken by the ongoing generations of the highest of excellence to the fine art of preserving ballet. I always feel I am entering into 'the silent center' of artist's form, as each medium comes to know. The dancer's presence of maintaining a conscious awareness to musical phrasing reminds me of Toscanini stating each note is a a most given value (opera singer's to a composer's music). This is the mark of artistry above technique completion. Opera singer's warm up, musician warm up, medium artists warm up, and dancers warm to maintain the basic techniques to hold a centered excellence upon 'the unknown AWE' of all parts coming together. Bravo to Marinsky and narrators are expressing a tremendous amount of information. 💝🌹

Hey, looks like the list of dancers in the description left out the beautiful May Nagahisa whose first at one of the barres. Her technique and her lines are so effortless and delicate.

Loved watching this. What an excellent teacher Yana Selina. There was a girl wearing all black and she was so good. Unfortunately, they didn't show her very much. I particularly loved her arms and head.

Yana Selina Second Soloist is an amazing dancer and teacher 😍 and here at @ 35:34 Selina bends forward and bends her left knee ❤️ at the same time as she slides her straightened right leg slowly to the rear ❤. At @ 49:13 Viktoria Tereshkina the beautiful and extraordinary 'Best Paquita' dancer ever ❤️ 💙! Thank you all to the great Mariinsky dancers and to Xander Parish and E Baeva. And to the amazing 'collaborative pianist' Gennady Merkulov too. And thanks much 😊 to @ MariinskyEn for sharing.

Much as I love Xander Parish, the class is better without the narration. I expect he was roped into doing this. The vast majority of people who watch World Ballet Day are quite familiar with the format of classes, and many are already familiar with the individual dancers picked for this class.

I agree. The music is barely audible, and the comments are about the same as during most WBD classes (except that in Royal Ballet classes, for instance, the comments are kept between the exercises). You do have another video without the comments in English, though.

@@finoucat9299 Thanks. I watched the class without the voice over. It was surprising and wonderful to see Yana Selina giving class. She obviously has a talent for it. Maybe a future ballet master at the Mariinsky. The Mariinsky class is the best out of all the classes I have seen for World Ballet Day 2021.

It would be irritating if it was someone random, but the insight he gives as a former principal member is really amazing. I understand Russian just fine but it's lovely to hear the "inside" bits.

Are they going to talk every time the dancers do the exercises? Can't we just watch and hear the music?

Xander Parish fled Russia, the country to which he owes his career. Likely, without any knowledge of the history, events and players that led to the Ukraine War. (It was not Putin who started this war.). For that, for me, he's not up there anymore among my favorite dancers. Interestingly, he subsequently organized a gala for escapees in the US, the country that is 100% responsible for the Ukraine War.

instead of complaining redundantly why don't you read comments and chat and follow one of the many links provided to version of stream without commentary, in main channel. let people who enjoy commentary watch this stream, you go to one without commentary.

@@sitting_nut When one clicks on to any particular link, it is to watch what is written on it. One doesn't immediately start searching for other possible versions. As for the English comments, they could be limited to translating what the ballet mistress says in Russian. Those who watch such videos are mostly "ballet buffs" interested in the way in which dance classes are conducted in various companies...

@@Coucoutchicou presumptuous much? why did you presume your narrow expectations and prejudices are common to all ( or even majority of) viewers of these videos? and why did you presume other viewers are too lazy (like you) to follow the links ( which btw can be found without any searching) to a version that suits their expectations? if spoiled lazy person with narrow prejudices, like you, don't like this video, you are free to not watch it. others unlike you are free to watch it, and even show gratitude. you are also free to express your narrow nature , we are also free to call you out on it.
