Considering the fact that the army failed to protect multiple embassy I can't blame him for under estimating other branches.

@@quawanhaywood4009 no. It's the tactics and training. You put the army guys thru the same paces and they will perform just as impressively. We see this time and time again with the Ranger challenge.

While your average infantryman can certainly clean their act up and put a good face forward, they're likely a little too rough around the edges as a whole for what is primarily a diplomatic security mission. One thing you might notice while watching this is that every Marine whose rank could be identified (only in theater mode and low resolution) was an E-5 or above. From what little I think I understand, I believe MSG is one of those MOS's that is generally reserved for second enlistments and they tend to draw a lot of talent from Marine infantry and MP's. Another reason why Marines make more sense than Army is because Marines can theoretically be more rapidly deployed than the Army in support of of security breaches for the following reasons; Marine MUEs can be anywhere in the world in days; Marines are the only branch of service that can be deployed by the Executive and does not need congressional approval; Marines just look sharper from the higher grooming standards to the uniforms and the emphasis on drill. The biggest advantage is the fact that the Marines operate at the leisure of the President. Defending an embassy can be one of those very tricky catch 22 situations where the consequences of defending it could be construed as an act of war by a host nation. If the Army held this post and something happened when congress was out of session the congress would have to declare an emergency session, convene, vote and pass in the House and Senate then be signed off by the President before reinforcements could be mobilized. That, or the Army would have to compel the President to mobilize Marines in support of the Army mission, which really isn't a huge deal but then you get into the weeds of inter-service red tape and competing interests. I believe the Army absolutely could do the mission, as could the Navy and the Air Force, but the Marines are best suited for a variety of reasons beyond pure professionalism and aesthetics.

We know we expendable and our lives are not as important as the mission. Unless you have first hand knowledge of what you are talking about.. your are talking out of your ass. Marines can’t guarantee a job, you don’t find out your job till you join. So sadly, you’re not in a position to do that. Either you join and maybe get it or don’t and wonder what could have been.

Maybe the Marine Corps isn't for you. Unlike other services, you are at the mercy of the Marine Corps regardless of what they put in your contract; you will go wherever they need you and that is written in your contract. However, if you get above an 80 or 90 on your ASVAB, do well on your knowledge in boot camp, can hit and maintain the 275+ club (PT score 275-300[max score]) and don't have any integrity issues you will have a good chance at getting the job you want. My information is dated and the Marine Corps has been doing a ton of restructuring over the last few years. I know there was talk of infantry contracts potentially being reserved for second enlistments but really don't know if anything came of that. I also never thought I'd see the day that the Marine Corps, a service so strongly rooted and steeped in history and tradition, would ever even consider closing MCRD: Parris Island but welcome to 2020 I guess. The Marine Corps doesn't bend over backwards for anyone but they do their best to take care of those with high aptitude to the best of their operational abilities. They have a tiny budget with a massive mission and you will learn to make due should you enlist because that is exactly what the Marine Corps does. Something like half of the Marine Corps is E-3 and below and they don't care about what junior enlisted think, do you think they are worried about some kid off of the street and his feelings?
