8 ай бұрынOn November 10, 2023, U.S. #Marines around the globe will celebrate 248 years of success on the battlefield and reaffirm their commitment to our Corps' proud legacy of honor, courage and commitment.
This year, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric M. Smith and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps Carlos A. Ruiz remind us all that Marines are professional warfighters who have earned their reputation of discipline and lethality in the crucible of combat.

part of Force Design 2030, the Corps has made changes, such as shedding heavy gear like tanks, upgrading to longer-range weapons, building a web of sensors, empowering small unit leaders, investing in the lift and logistics to support distributed operations, and more. Though Force Design 2030 generally has found acceptance at the top levels of the Defense Department and in Congress, it sparked an extraordinary - and public - backlash from retired Marine leaders. Several retired generals penned opinion essays decrying Force Design and urging the Marine Corps and Congress to halt the overhaul, which they said would leave the service less prepared to confront a range of crises.

Happy birthday, Marines. Army soldier here, always recognized that marines are built different than the other branches. Just one look at them and you can tell they are made of tougher stuff. Anybody who is honest will admit that.

Lt Calvin was my platoon commander in Fallujah. He took that round while communicating targets to hit with our 60MM mortars. He was part of the forward observers that would radio to us on targets or areas we needed to drop on. On that day, he was almost directly across the street from us standing up yelling and pointing at targets. The fighting was intense and loud and the radio was difficult to hear and convey what he was seeing, so he exposed himself to enemy direct fire to relay his coordinates to us. He took that round and we succeeded in suppressing the enemy and sending many of them to hell in a combined arms assault a young Marine can only dream of. Lt Calvin was one of, if not the best, Marine I had the pleasure to serve under. A true leader, he once carried a 240G on a 2-3 hour foot patrol in July or August in Iraq. Marines like Lt Calvin are Esprit de Corps. Semper Fidelis and Happy Birthday, Marines!

My father was a marine , my step father was a marine, my older brother was a marine, I was a marine, spent 19 months and 28 days in Vietnam with the twelve marines . My son was a marine 0311 , fought in Iraq. My only regret is that I didn’t stay in . Simper Fi and happy birthday Marines

My father was a Marine W W 2 , he was an ORIGINAL 2nd Division Marine, (no re-enforced on his discharge) , Guadalcanal to Saipan, his brother a Marine with 4th Division, WW2 , later 2nd Division (stateside) for Korea, myself Vietnam 11th Marines, my youngest son a Marine, peacetime. God bless !!!

Contact part of the marine corps league or something, they should be able to join you up with a nearby one if you can’t find one yourself. Plenty of college rotcs hold them as well for obvious reasons

My grade school gym teacher (79 to 81) Marvin Glick was a marine on Iwo Jima he was a good man and got me interested in history I went to Iwo Jima in 2005 brought back sand and placed it on his grave 🇺🇸

On December 29th 1979 I reported to Platoon 1001, A Company, 1st Battalion, Parris Island SC, and I was changed forever. I earned the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, and at 64 I proudly wear it on my shoulder. As Marines we stand shoulder to shoulder with the ghosts of heroes. Semper Fi, do or die. God bless our Corps.

I made that same decision in 1997 and im 49 years old now.. Best decision of my life.. I am 100% service connected with SMC special monthly compensation.. I have a 8300 a month income now.. if I hadn't made that decision I wouldn't be 49 years old with a 100k a year income. And I wouldn't have the discipline.. I always wonder what my life would have been like had I not made the decision to become a Marine. I've been out since 2001. Simper Fi! Stick with it Marine!

I got myself into a bad situation where we were attached with a national guard unit taking care of business. I was told this later by one of the people in my charge that a few of the guardsman pointed me out and asked what kind of preworkout I use. They told them "that's just a marine". That fire the corps forges into you keeps you alive. People notice it. Happy Birthday Marines. Thank you to the Corps for the gifts you keep giving me and my brothers and sisters.

My grandfather was a Chosen Reservoir survivor from "Operation Tootsie Roll" and went on to serve 3 more tours in Vietnam... Retired as a Gunnery Sergeant... Purple Heart recipient and all around AMAZING man!! Without our Marine Corps our nation would NEVER have the freedom that makes us WHO we are!! For that we are TRULY BLESSED 🙏🙏. As a young man who aspires to become a Marine after college, this just deepens my inspiration to levels indescribable. Almost like a trailer to a good hyped film. My grandfather fought with the Army in Korea back in 1950 at the age of 18, and later became a Marine himself, it’s because of the men like him, and those who gave their lives for the Americans back home that I am motivated to fight for something greater than myself. ~Thank you to all Marines for your service, and I will be joining you in 2030.

I was blessed to attend the 200th Birthday Ball, and I'm sure many of today's Marines will attend the 250th. I was stationed in Philadelphia and got to see the groundbreaking ceremony for Tun Tavern. Every time someone thanks me for my service, I tell them it was an honor, and it was.

Joined the Marines in 1957 right out of high school. I served with a seventh Marine Regiment, first Marine, division, camp, Pendleton, California. I served with a seal Beach naval ammunition depot, marine detachment, happy birthday, to all the Marines everywhere in the world..

I am a retired AF MSgt, C130 maintenance specialist. My only son is an inactive Marine. I'm deeply proud of him and all true Marines, past, present, and future!!! I just pray that "wokeness" doesn't compromise present and future Marines...God save America and the Corps!!!

Served with 7th marines in 1950 kOREA. from iNCHON TO CHOSEN REservoir. We maty have been trapped but our fighting spirit prevailed and with my PH I returned home and will always be proud to have served in such an elite group. Brain cancer and all has not deminished my admiraion for having been a marine. Semper Fi to my brothers on this birthday celebration

Semper Fi and Happy Birthday Marine brother and sisters! Never regretted my choice and will continue to live up to the Marine Corps outside of the military. One day will be back, we will see where life leads me next, whether it be going back in or staying on course for Civie life.

Happy Birthday Marines and God bless you all. Each and every one of you are examples of the best of our country. I’m proud to live in a country that produces such men and women. Thank you for your service and your sacrifices and thank you to your families for their support and sacrifices. From places like Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, and Betio, to Chosin, Hue, Fallujah and so many more, Marines have been at the knifes edge to keep our country safe and stand for the values our nation. Dignity, Integrity, Honor, these are the kind of words I think of when I see a Marine. You represent the best our country has to offer and my heart swells with pride to know you are out there. You probably don’t even understand the magnitude of your contributions to humanity because you’re so busy trying to save the world. I shudder to think what the world would be like without the United States Marine Corps. May your next 250 years be as honorable and glorious as the past 248 years.

My Grandpa charged Iwa Jima, my dad fought in Vietnam, and I was in Bosina & Panama. The Marines in my family have always served. I'm proud ro be part of that brotherhood. Semper Fi, God bless and keep the torch going folks. Keep our honor clean. Happy 248th Birthday.
