Something that I love in Pit is how the babies replicate the battle stances of their older versions

OBJECTION! A proper Mario&Luigi dance only takes place while the Bro is selecting their move. Some of the "dances" ranked here are just the idle animations for when it's *NOT* the Bro's turn, which is not comparable to a true Mario&Luigi dance. BIS Luigi in particular dances around a lot more while you're actually selecting his move, easy S-Tier.

Luigi's little side-eye shimmy in Superstar Saga DX is awesome

Dream Team idle animations are top tier on my list man. I love the way they move their body and swing their arms, like they are ready to dodge or throw a punch!

Superstar Saga GBA battle dances will always be my fave lol But i have always been so obsessed with the series' battle stances

Seeing all the sprites together really shows how much more battle ready they look in PIT. As much as it deserved a remake, im kinda glad it didnt cause i feel like its sprite charm would be ruined. Look at Baby Luigi go Also take into account how Baby Mario always tried to sloves stuff with his hammer. He's always ready to fight

It doesnt feel fair that the Dream Team/Paper Jam dances get deducted because they are probably some of the best

Objection on bowser's, its not a miss when he's on block selection, its not awesome but its pretty good cause he's just warming up and it feels right for his personality

I’ll always love dream teams dance the most. Mario looks like he’s about to fight in a 1920s cartoon. Plus it goes very well with the music especially never let up

little detail, bowser's dance you choosed to show was his enemy stance and not when you play as him, he has animation for that, you just don't have it, it would been a good animation

Great video! Loved it. Although the superstar saga dances and bowser from bis remake are the dances used when selecting a move and not the idle dances like the others are. I would love to see another video from you ranking both the idle and selecting move dances!

What I love about Luigi's dance in Pit is that both the pose and his face show and say how the enemies are gonna get their asses whipped in the most brutal and humiliating way possible.

6:36 there was another comment that mentioned it as well but some of the sprites change when they're selecting a block and for Bowser that's his position when he's getting attacked and doing nothing while selecting a block is what he does in the remake is basically the exact same as in the original

you can see for a little second in the brothership footage we got that luigi is doing the leg pose thing exactly as he did in dream team, and for like 3 frames you can see Mario doing a pose with his arms that compared side by side is also exactly the same as the dance he does in dream team In brother we're gonna have dream team dance but in 3d

from the frames that i saw, the DT and the PJ dances are going into Brotherhood as well, thus i think that's just their definitive dance now

I find myself mostly agreeing with the list with 1 exception. Which is that luigi's shuffle from inside story and the remake are my favorite's and therefore the 'best' in my opinion. ...or at least near superstar sagas because those two are really iconic, even from someone like me that never got to play them.

So, if you look up the Japanese page for Brothership, you can actually see the command selection for Mario, and if you look at Luigi’s pose, it somewhat resembles the DT one with the outstretched leg, so it looks like they’re taking from that game again Don’t get me wrong, I like the poses but I hope it’s just a small reference in a new dance rather than taking the old one tbh

Mario's Superstar Saga DX dance isn't actually slower like that in game, that's just the gif. In game, it's about the same speed as the original. Also justice for Mario's Dream Team/Paper Jam idle, it deserved higher

Where's the "miss" sound effect? At 0:45 Paper Jam did have an icon and a sound when you missed an attack. (Tried to hammer a flying foe, or jumped on a spiked foe)

For me, Bowser’s Inside Story being one of my first real video games in general, Mario & Luigi’s dances there are always going to be my favorite. I also love their Dream Team (and Paper Jam lol) dances too

I think what’s wrong with the BIS Mario sprite are Mario’s limbs, the hands and arms and bizarrely tiny

As a bowser fan, it hurts to see him get the 2 bottom spots. But it's valid so I'll still leave a like despite the pain

Baby Mario deserves justice

Big issue with this video is that a lot of these gifs just aren't grear, and there's some missing. Not your fault, but it just can't compare to how they look in game. I'd say there's 2 types of dances. The "waiting stance" and the "selection stance." That first Bowser one is actually the waiting stance, while the remake one is the selection stance. The original selection stance for Bowser is great. His punches feel very weighty and he looks like he's ready for anything. The remake's has basically no weight and is very poor. I think my favorite dances overall are the Bowser's Inside Story "selection stance" dances for the bros, which aren't present in this video. This is actually making me want to take some time today to make my own gifs of every dance because I think the internet is lacking in this department

id like to share a bit of my opinion on bowser from origonal bowser inside story! the fact he doesent dance and just. angerly breaves fits him SO well. he is a big hulking mass. he doesent play any funky games. he's straight forward and scary. if he would dance that woul lessen the intimdation. id say high okay low good at minimum!

I think that the remake sprites are very good and should be at the top (aside from Bowser's, that is) I agree that original Bowser's dance is terrible. I think that baby Mario and baby Luigi are pretty bad, but not as bad as Bowser. I've never played these games, surprisingly. I'm hoping that brothership will be a good introduction game for me! 😊
