The fact that Popple and the Bros can perform a tug-of-war over a dropped hammer is not only hilarious but a massive improvement over the original. You didn’t get your hammer back for ages if Popple took it from you.

The enemies having visible levels is a nice touch. I’m not sure about other recurring bosses, but for at least Popple it seems more than plausible that he is actually levelling up between encounters like the Bros.

It's also useful in the long run for knowing what level you should be for fighting certain enemies. In the original version it was all guesswork (which is kinda bad when you can encounter Tanoombas way earlier than you're meant to).

@@farafureimu You must've been amazing at dodging, then. You're not supposed to even see them until you're collecting the four Beanstar pieces, yet you can encounter them as soon as you're almost at the castle town for the first time.

It would be cool if whatever item Popple stole from you during the fight he could use against you, for example, if he stole a mushroom then he can use it to heal himself or Rookie, if he steals a 1-up he could use it to revive Rookie or vice-versa, if he steals a syrup jar he can use it to increase some of his or Rookie’s stats & the list goes on! Also that time Popple stole Luigi’s hammer he really should’ve kept it for the rest of the fight, it would’ve made the fight so much harder!

The first time I played through the battle in the chateau, I kept losing my mushrooms to that sly little bugger! Not long after that, I learned that in order to properly fight them, one must take out the medic- aka Popple. Now, whenever I replay this game, I always get a bit of malicious satisfaction after clobbering him before Rookie- it’s what he deserves >:UU

Beating Popple first also gains you more XP. However, there are different lines in-battle depending on who you kill first.

Killing Popple first helps the fight end faster so he doesn't keep healing and it gains more EXP ya noob

Tbh the 3D affect on the 3DS was pretty bad imo. It always hurt my eyes so I just kept it off. And by the time this game came out, the 3DS was already dying so they probably didn’t want to waste their time putting 3D effects on a game that doesn’t really need it. 3DS was still a legendary gaming system and besides the switch It’s probably still one of the best portable consoles out there imo.

Good is not enough for a remake, the point of a remake is taking the original game and improve it as a whole, in my opinion only 2 tracks were remixed right, the boss battle and the Bowletta boss theme, i can't believe they ruined the main battle theme by just extending the melody, heck even paper jam which also had a very mediocre soundtrack had a better remix of the main battle theme, not saying that this game has a bad soundtrack but alot of of the remixes are so inferior compared to the original.
