John Wayne was injured and suffered a broken leg while playing football in college. He was turned down for military service due to that so he and John ( Pappy ) Ford another great American produced patriotic movies and sold war Bonds. I wish people would research topics before they make stupid comments. This is my last comment. John Wayne is and always will be my hero !!!

Your love for your father is evident and your voice and your words and your eyes. your father put out great movies I'm sharing them with my 9-year-old son today. Especially the older ones. John Wayne was a great actor. It's difficult to pick a favourite film but Rio Bravo, The Searchers and The Quiet Man immeadiately come to mind as films I never tire of watching. I think Marisa is 100% right; they are a fantatstic family doing a lot of good work, in a quiet but respectful way. I am sure he would be immensley proud of the work they are doing in his name.

I have been binge watching John Wayne's movies, and though I have always regarded him as a Westerns Hero, what comes shining through is his fine sense of comic timing! I know there are plenty of actors doing westerns, but for me it will always be the Duke and James Stewart! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😊😊😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

The movie "The High and the Mighty" is a FABULOUS movie, even though it's not a "western movie" and I love it!!! "Island in the Sky" is a really good movie also. As like Mr. Gibbons, I hope this gets to the Wayne family. I love all the Dukes movies and I am trying to collect all his movies. I will in time. But what I really wanted to say is that when me father passed away in 1997. His movies helped me to get through the grieving. It was his voice that some how would help. And now I still love watching his movies. I am glad that I can by them, thank you. Carol Severin
@watchmanschannelofdespair8 жыл бұрын
I know how you feel Carol, it's tough losing a loved one, to put it mildly. My own 'Pop', who passed away 3 years ago this month, was a huge western film fan and movie fan in general, who knew all the old timers, from Gene Audrey, to popular (at the time) sidekicks such as Andy Devine, Walter Brennan and George "Gabby" Hayes. He became a fan from his childhood days of making frequent visits to his Uncle who was projectionist at the local theater and collecting comic books, which at the time featured plenty of popular western film stars in their own sequential adventures.
