I so look ahead to your lectures, your delivery as well as your topics are addictive. As an amateur boat modeler, I thoroughly enjoy everything related to boats. Thank you again, I will be eager to listen to the next lecture.

Thank you very, very much for the compliment! I am Flattered that you enjoy them! Alas, I do not know nearly enough about the seafaring traditions of Asia to give a talk On the traditional craft. And yet it is an impressive maritime culture!

As ever, excellent. Thank you, Doctor. I make a point of tuning in every Sunday. Now, I shall return to the Anthony Roll to try and understand Tudor guns. 😉

I am not sure how much the Roll will help with the guns. For artillery in the Tudor Period, besides Caruana, the best source would be Alex Hildred’s volume on Mary Rose’s armament- probably the only good volume of the lot and certainly the best.

Dear Dr. Batchvarov: Thank you so much for your presentation. It has been a while since I have had the time to go back and refresh my memory of current sites, making this even more valuable. I keep looking at material from, for example, the Dover boat, and am interested your your views on the neolithic and bronze-age development of (at least) coastal trading craft around the North Sea. Would you be willing -- speculative or otherwise -- to address when you see changes from log craft/rafts to built structures intended to keep the wet stuff away from passenger feet? It seems that moving from the observation that wood stuff usually floats pretty well to the point where a structure is imagined prior to construction and intentionally created to float at sea represents a fundamental change in how we interacted with our world.

This is a very interesting topic indeed. Sean McGrail addressed some of this in his works. I have to say that Neolithic and Early Bronze Age vessels are not my forte, but I suppose I could eventually address this in a video. I have to refresh my readings though, as I have not dealt with the period since graduate school!

Alas, not so far. I do not have a conservation lab here where they could be cleaned to the point of being able to read them. Thank you though!

If only we could find the pile of spare parts , we could rebuild Theseus’ old barque . What do you think of Irving Finkles’ ark(ed}?

Alas, I have not seen his Ark, but no doubt it would be quite entertaining to see. When I was a grad student Millennia ago, I was doing temp jobs at the offices of an oil company in Houston. The CEO secretary, a very well-maintained lady in her 60s, once suggested to me that I ought to go looking for Noah’s Ark and she was sure, her church could raise more than enough funds for the expedition. Oh well- the missed opportunities :-)

@@kroumbatchvarov-archaeologist DR. Finakle works at the British museum. He is one of the few people that can read just cuneiform writing. Someone presented him with a pre-Jude’s-Christian tablet recounting the building of the ark . It wasn’t just a story though , the tablet had construction details and measurements. Dr. Finale got funding to build a half size replica following those instructions. There is a documentary on KZfaq of the whole adventure , which is how I learned of it.

about 15 years ago I had the opotunity to meet Ivor Lowton who made the replika of the sutton hoo helmet displayed in sutton hoo. And the best part is that I some of the parts that was an error try in my hands.... the nose and some of the tinned bronce plates ..... and one of the bronce stamps for making the plates..... oh soo nice and realy unforgetable.... and all parts are done with original materials and craftig methods..... sooo beautyful..... Thats it de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:Sutton_Hoo_Helmet_Replica.jpg
