Anyone with their own railway can't help going power mad and Mark Found right up there as a domineering . . . oh, sorry, not that sort of power? Ah, I see, power for the propulsion of trains.

I like that hot air engine! It's an amazing idea and looks a bit like the whimsical little Lartigue monorail in Ireland

The last one was very beautiful. I hope they caught whoever vandalized it. No reason whatsoever to harm something that nice.

actually the first steam locomotives were around in 1804, British Engineer Richard Trevithick, 22 years before America had them, in fact the first American steam engines were built by the British and were shipped ober to America. They probably ran on oil but coal and wood was also used, wood, not so much, that seems to be an American thing.

I would use PVC trunking for the cabling with a draw cord inside for servicing purposes. Cheap enough and this can be buried so cable can be hidden.

If you want the Prince of Wales loco or hot air powered one you have to scratch build them yourself.

This is a fascinating series. I just wish it had links as to where the absolute complete beginner could purchase track and motive power etc ready built. It would also have been useful to know what guage this railway is. Is it 0 or G scale? Lots of exceptionally useful tops however and superbly presented.

The layout is G and I would recommend you check out a starter set as they have everything you’ll need ready made

Round house do make a the same loco but called some thing else. all you would have to do is repaint it and rename it. Of course it dosen't run on coal though!

scratch build it yourself or find someone to build it for you but you'll probably be looking at spending the amount to buy a new car on it.

Fishplates installed like this will only work for a few months. Screw clamps will last for years and never need grease. Plus you can take them off at ease in secs shoild they need de crudding.

The 1st steam locomotives (1800s - America in the Wild West) used wood b4 coal.
@davidblurton71586 жыл бұрын
im pretty sure the early american locos would have been mostly coal burners,, like the british ones they were based on,,, of course the later locos used in the west did use wood as there was no coal,,,,
