"It is the little inconveniences that make the real comfort of life" I might be interpreting this too literally, but I had a really rough upbringing and have come out of it really stable and haven't had to struggle for a while. So a few days ago, I was driving and ran over a bolt that punctured my tire, about 10 to 15 miles from home, it pops out and my tire is completely deflated in the rain on the side of a dirt road. So after about 10 minutes of moping, I get out in the rain with the spare and lift kit, change it with the ground slowly sinking below the jack and drive home. Then repaired the tire and went back to work the next day. In a weird way, it was kinda fun having to suck it up and be uncomfortable again

I am a near octogenarian. I have always had difficulty reading Twain, except for his novels. I find myself reading him like a car with a missing-valves engine, always coughing, stopping and going until the moment I stop altogether...to get momentarily to something else and then never coming back. Not to the same place I was before, anyway. But of all my "philosophical" somersaults, from reading him, the most difficult part was that I never put them down, ensuring that I forgot about them, for better or for worse, the moment I turned my eyes and attention to something else. Something more "practical" or more "contemporary". Now that I am close to call curtains, I become aware that this is my eternal regret. I had a life to live worthy of being called life and never seemed to see the moment to plant a stake in the ground, tie myself to it, and give myself the moral imperative (No! Scrap the fork out of "moral", as it is exactly what Mark himself would warn me against!) to observe the firmament from sunrise to sunset, and then forward to the next sunrise, and leave signs on that firmament that my wisps of life had cleared my Soul as I turned around the Sun.

Many cats also. It takes time to work with animals. Animals can teach one about unconditional love that many people can't comprehend. ❤

Exactly. The LOVE of money is more like it! Beimg greedy, selfish unthankful ungrateful and always wanting more..It's a human being who is the root of all evil. Not the lack of money. Money is a great blessing if we are sincere wise and cherish it for the right and best reasons. Even with the lack of money, a human being can work on being patient & grateful, & try to make the best of what little they have..I have seen some poor people living within their means, quite content & in peace.

Yet few find the worth of seeking such priceless virtues as wisdom,a treasure that brings respect without fear. Truths without the abomination of lies, only the pure in heart will recognise diamonds like these, the heartless are like thieves who arrogantly strut with stolen wealth proudly , blind to seeing the hole they are about to fall into ,or the ugliness of their person so easily changed by humility, wisdom is always the open door that beckons silently and without force. I found all these quotes to be true, one of the best I've found so far is this video. I've diligently strived for virtue, honesty, truth ,unconditional love I strive to give but never with naivety as twain says, the more I know people the more I love my dog,the dog knows nothing but how to be loyal. This speaks volumes of the intelligence of the fool who betrays others and with it,his own self.
