This ALMOST RUINED My WHOLE Day (James River Day 1)

Day 1 on the James did not go as planned. I miss played the tide and it costed me. I tried to take a shortcut mid day and that almost ended badly with my day completely ruined. Luckily that 250 Merc got us out of there! Looking to make a comeback day 2.

I was feeling your pain when you ran out of water. That’s tidewater creek fishing. Been there done that. When you see that bottom coming up you know if you drop it off plane the bottom’s gotcha. Sometimes you make it, sometimes you don’t. The mud saved you. I’ve done it on hard bottom. Great video as usual MDJ. Be pulling for you on the St. Lawrence!

I'm surprised you missed and played the tides all wrong? We both grew up on the same delta water and I always had a tide book with me. You got damn lucky on the mud bank, glad to see that. Looking forward to watching day 2's results. I'm sure you learned quite a lot from day 1!

That tide is real. I docked my boat, went to go get the truck and my boat was sitting 3’ below the dock where I left it. That was on the St. Jones River

You handled that boat super good when you beached it, that was quick thinking, that water was dangerous if you think about it, if you were to fall in, it would have been like quick sand, because that pushing pole went down over 5ft, sorry that you didn't have a good day, that tide would be hard to deal with for sure! That sucks. I fish shallow saltwater in Florida and I haven't had that happen. But u handled it well u definitely have experience. The only thing u did wrong was taking another route. That's a big heavy boat too. That mud creates suction makes it worse
