Enjoy your videos! I’ve made a wooden flower press and want to put some of my dried flowers on the outside. Would you suggest Mod Podge or something different to adhere them to the wood. Looking forward to more videos. Thank you

Hi Donna, I think Mod Podge would work fine. Personally I prefer the matte kind, but whatever you prefer. Even something like a Diamond Glaze for a glossy finish would work. If you have enough flowers, test a couple under a rigid surface just to see how you like the finish and how it goes on over the flowers. Might also be a good idea to put a thin layer of sealant over the wood first and let dry to seal the wood before doing any flower work. I would put the medium/mod podge down and place the flowers on it while still wet and let that dry. Or if the flowers are rigid enough you can coat the back instead and place down - let dry. Then I would put the top coat on after that. There is no right or wrong so have fun! Thank you for watching:-)

What do you recommend for resin? Great video by the way! ☺️

Hi, test with the resin you use and the type of colorant. Sometimes alcohol will bleed with some resins, etc. In any event, once I color them, I coat both sides with matte mod podge or nail polish. That can also help with bleeding of color in resin, but again, test for compatibility. For example if you use a water base colorant the mod podge could make that run since it is water soluble. So have fun and experiment since there is no "one size fits all" so to speak. Thank you for watching, Em

Do you have a preference of fabric markers or alcohol markers so far? I havnt been able to find examples of the fabric markers used on the pressed flowers.

Hi Danielle, I prefer to use the fabric markers when possible since they seem to hold up well even under an adhesive protective cover. I really like alcohol markers for difficult items that need a really fast drying medium - Example kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sNKRer1_rdKUiqc.html - but some of the colors will bleed under some adhesive covers, for example contact paper. Therefore, it all depends upon the botancial and how you want to display it. Both kinds of markers will work and I prefer the brush tip ones kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bdBzmtSgqp7WdoE.html Thank you for watching:-) Em

Hi Em! What would you recommend using to enhance the colours for a dried flower crown that I have dried and want to hang in a frame (under glass). I pressed the crown 2 years ago but the white flowers and green leaves have faded!

Hi Stephanie, really when under glass anything could be used without having to worry about certain colorants bleeding with an adhesive covering. I would try the fabric paint, fabric markers or alcohol markers I go into in my color enhancing videos kzfaq.info/sun/PLxKiESd8bksOod-3Fe7kS4jzcXpFiorRA You may want to test if you can. But if they have already been placed into an arrangement that may be a little more of a challenge. Good luck:-) Em

Hi Ma'am... can i use alcohol ink?
@emsplace
@emsplace Жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes I use alcohol inks for some botanicals. Just remember the if you are using them for resin or other protectants that have a wet solvent based adhesive it can bleed. Water based protectants or glass, acetate and etc work fine. Experiment and test before any large scale project. Thank you for watching, Em

Wish I would’ve watched your videos before I started pressing! I used paper towels instead of plain paper and my flowers turned such hideous colors :(

Hi, hope you have better luck. Yes smooth, absorbent paper IMHO works best. Thanks for watching, Em
