May.09 -- Prominent venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya, founder and chief executive officer of Social Capital, speaks with Bloomberg's Emily Chang at the inaugural Bloomberg Business of Equality Summit about the lack of diversity and inclusion in the VC and tech communities, and what he thinks it will take to effect real change.

Suggestion to Americans out of high school - go get a STEM degree in a third world country. You'll save money on education, healthcare and living expenses. Hire cheap labor to have somebody cook and clean - saving you time. Then come back to US to take American jobs. Let the schools selling overpriced degrees suffer. That will also get the travel bug out of you without having to spend extra time and money for long term travel. Let the US retailers, housing market and banks suffer as a result for at least the 4 years you are not in US Also, since you can't get a manufacturing job anymore in US, play the capitalism back at corporations when back. Buy directly from China. You'll not only save money, the companies sending your jobs outside will lose your business.

NR the disparity tends to learn more towards industries that require creativity, leadership, and intelligence. Sewage workers and ditch diggers have a low wage/income ceiling and the demand for jobs is very low. Technology will eventually kill those jobs. Besides, men still can’t have children and there’s no outrage in that.

He's got some really good things to say. He does come off as a little unappreciative to the fact that Silicon Vally has given him pretty much ALL of his success. He points out correctly that in other parts of the world there are certainly fabulous engineers, but those jurisdictions might be missing other necessary requirements for becoming centers of innovation. For example, China has a totalitarian government and India has a caste system embedded in their culture. America isn't perfect, but the rule of law tends to be better than most other places in the world and its an immense marketplace. Also, by-in-large America is welcoming and allows people from all over the world to pursue their dreams freely. Chamath's own story is an amazing one. What makes a place become a center of innovation is not truly understood. In my opinion, it largely happens organically and can't be imposed.
