Day 5 (Trat ตราด): Eastern Thailand Food and Travel Tour. Watch all 8 videos here:
Trat is a beautiful and relaxed town in Eastern Thailand. The people are friendly and the food is outstanding. But nothing compares to the incredible and giant sized seafood you’ll find. After eating some street food in the morning, we then met up with the fantastic crew from Trat Food ( / tratfood ) to eat one of the most amazing seafood meals of my life - including giant alien mantis shrimp!
Kuay Teow Boo Sukhumvit (ร้านก๋วยเตี๋ยวปูสุขุมวิท) - Morning market in Trat is nice to visit but there’s not much cooked food to eat. So for breakfast we went to a legendary restaurant for a couple spicy breakfast dishes.
Mantis shrimp holy basil (ข้าวกระเพรากั้ง)
Crab eggs with chilies (ข้าวพริกขี้หนูปูไข่)
Price - 50 THB ($1.60) per plate
Khao Gaeng San Toong Ek Sinchon (ข้าวแกงแสนตุ้งเอกสินชล) - If you ask anyone in Trat where to eat spicy curries, many will mention the Shell pump gas station curry restaurant. They serve San Toong style Trat curry here and it’s amazing.
Pork garcinia cowa (หมูชะมวง)
Wild boar curry (แกงหมูป่า)
Sour pineapple curry (แกงส้มสับปะรด)
Bird curry (แกงนก)
Deer curry (แกงกวางหน่อสับปะรด)
ไก่กระวาน
Total price - 270 THB ($8.63)
After all the morning Thai food, I was ready to get out, walk around, and explore the sights and attractions in Trat town.
Wat Phai Lom
Trat Museum
Canal walk
Khrua Loong Dee (ครัวลุงตี๋) - For dinner, we drove out, about 30 minutes from town to one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever been to. It’s like you’re eating in his home, and he has all the giant seafood fresh and ready to be ordered. We asked Uncle to just hook us up with a set meal and he went straight to work. All the seafood was outstanding, both incredibly fresh and the flavors of the cooking was also outstanding. But the highlight of the meal were the mantis shrimp and the giant mud crabs.
Mantis shrimp (กั้งทอดกระเทียม)
Mud crab (ปูดำ)
Blood cockles (หอยแครง)
Crab fried rice (ข้าวผัดปู)
Grilled shrimp (กุ้งเผา)
Grouper sour soup (ปลาเก๋าต้มส้ม)
Grouper 3 flavors (ปลาเก๋าสามรส)
Total price - 3,300 THB ($105.57)
Again, check out Trat Food (ของกินเมืองตราด): / tratfood And thanks to them for coming out!

Hey Mark, I want to thank you, as a disabled Westerner I will never be able to go to the places you visit, but you bring it all alive for me in my own front room, especially the local culture which is always fascinating. This is now my favourite food channel for this reason. Thanks again from the UK man..

@@saifhasan4717 he doesn't reply to everyone because it would take days! He has millions of subscribers and there is no way humanely possible to respond to everyone plus spend time with his family, make content, edit his content, or do anything he wants to do. Also, he may not respond to everyone but he probably at least reads them. Put yourself in his shoes and stop being to judgemental!!!

Ling is your most beautiful asset and Micha is adorable. You should show them more. I love all your videos and watch them daily. I love seafood but in the USA it is so expensive I rarely get to eat any. You take me on a journey to places I’ll never get to go and I’m thankful I found your channel. You are awesome. God bless you and your family. Ling should have her own channel showing traditional and modern women’s clothing and or a demonstration of cooking a traditional dish from each country you are in. It would be a hit. Safe travels!! 🦀🦑🐌

I simply LOVE Mark's way of Describing food - and the way in which he mixes his bites and portions - but the eyes and smile he makes post every bite of almost any food he bites into kind of impart a generic "flavor" to everything he is seen eating - so I dunno whether he really likes stuff or not LOL.

Imagine if the Canadian Ministry of Health ran Thailand. Every single one of the restaurants and road side stands that you eat at would be shut down due to a multitude of protocol infractions. I'm not saying that inspections are not valid since many places can become cesspools and filthy if there isn't pressure to be clean. Great video. I'm certainly eating vicariously through you!
