MARRIAGE DYNAMICS (Vol. 14)
Mystery about Marriage
Covenant Marriage is a Conviction!
When God brought Eve to Adam as his wife, this was what he said: “At last!, the man exclaimed. ‘This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called woman because she was taken from man” (Genesis 2:23 NLT). This is a statement of conviction. Conviction is an unshakable belief that something is certain and true. It is the opposite of doubt, distrust, and disbelief. This is what covenant marriage entails. It is about the conviction that the person you have married or will marry is God’s will for you.
It was a spiritual connection that brought Adam and Eve together. The two of them knew that they were meant for each other. There is no confusion in a covenant marriage, instead there is a conviction.
Are you fully convinced that the person you are married to or will marry is the bone of your bone and flesh of your flesh? How sure are you? How convinced are you? Marriage is not based on educated or calculated guess. It is not based on how smart or intelligent you are. It is based on conviction.
Conviction is a knowing that comes from the inner you. It is a knowing that is based on revelation and not information. Covenant marriage is not how much information you gathered about your spouse or partner. Sometimes information can be misleading and incorrect. What you need is the conviction that is based on revelation. Conviction is what will lead to acceptance. You cannot accept what you are not convinced about. Adam accepted Eve unconditionally because of conviction.
It is the conviction that would make you accept whosoever God has destined for you to marry. You may not get what you love or like, but the conviction will make you love or like what you get. That is covenant marriage
