In this video I'm taking a look at my new toy, the Mars II 400w LED Grow Light from Mars Hydro. I picked it up from www.mars-hydro.com/
It's a good value unit with a power draw of around 185W, it uses 80 x 5w LED's in 6 different light spectrums. 430~440nm, 450~475nm 620~630nm, 650~660nm, IR 730nm , and white 5500k (full spectrum daylight).
The light output compared with the 270w DIY CFL grow light I built in a previous video is substantially more intense. You can check out that video here: • 270w DIY CFL Grow Ligh...
Also compared to the 96W DIY LED Grow Light I built in this video: • 96w DIY LED Grow Light... it has a better spectrum and more intense light.
It's a serious piece of kit and I'm looking forward to growing with this light over winter.

i'm not sure if I actually bought Mars Hydro a few years ago but I definitely bought this light, I recognise it . Used it for half a veg as it was so poor. Plants were half the size of the previous HPS

ive swithed now fully from hps to marshydro but with the cold weather will stick in a 250 watt hps as well just to boost heat levels as they run reallly cool

+Disciple OfYESHUA I keep seeing you post this over and over and idk if it's u but also on other vides I've been growing for indoors for over 10yr I've got a very close relative that's been growing hydro since the late 80's and I've tried just about everything I've ran couple ufos when they 1st came out but I keep going back or staying with 1000w Hps the double ends are a tad bit better but I haven't seen a LED yet on par with HPS

I like the fact that they are only driven at ~50% power, I'm curious to see if any of the LED's burn out over time. I always wanted to do an LED grow light, but between trying to dissipate the heat, and burning out the LED's, the cfl grow light you made was just easier.

Really liked your 96 watt DIY design since the assembly is really easy to fix if there's any issues. How difficult would it be to change out LEDs for the Mars II if there's a problem? I see the Mars II comes with a 3 year warranty. I would love it if you could make a 250 watt LED DIY design similar to your 96 watt design as 250 watt should provide enough lumens for any/all plants/trees (veggies/citrus trees) one would consider growing in a growth tent/room.

Hi, im a begginer of growing cannabis, and i just order a 47x47x78 mylar tent, and im trying to grow 4 plants in it. Im trying to use a LED light to cut off with the hassle with the other lights, because i heard you can use a LED light from seeding to harvest and dont need a ballast and thats going to save me money as well. I just need help on which size n type of LED lights to use for my 47x47x78 tent with only 4 plant. And it be helpful if you can give me other tips as well that be helpful or know any other videos that can help or book that can help.. Please and thank you for your time.

Any issue with keeping the temps down? I've been trying the Mars LEDs and my grow space stays at 85 and up...just a bit warm for the plant's taste. I've got 100+ cfm ventilation but it's not really helping the temp problem.

i am about to buy a 400w led from mars and a 70in by 70in tent i am wondering if i did everything correct not being an expert could i reasonably expect to grow half a gram per watt , i have never used led's only hps lights is it worth the switch to led and a tent ps. i live in canada in oct 17th we can grow legally.

I'm pretty concerned about how blase you are regarding the helicopters and the glow from the loft skylight. Why not just put up some sort of barrier to keep the light in?
@VinceSamios
@VinceSamios 9 жыл бұрын
To keep the light in I'd have to cover the window, but the window provides loads of natural light during the day. I've got nothing to hide so if the police think it's worth checking out then it makes for a good story.

RealVinceSamios If they visit you that often, you are technically wasting the police time by "tricking" them. You can be fined for that even if the police should have learned the first time and than left you alone. It is also technically considered harassment. You can file a complaint for causing stress, worry, anxiety, stuff like that. Even if you are innocent being accused of a crime this often can affect you mentally. I would do it just out of principle. Police are not supposed to behave like that. "Going after the lowest hanging fruit." - Police these days love this because it is easier than doing real police work that takes effort. If you are not home when they decide to go and visit they can break the door to get in. Getting compensation is hard even if the law is clear. Police do not like to admit when they have screwed up. They hide a lot of mistakes. I assume you know this already but I mention it just in case, other people might find it useful too.

Sad Clown I too would advise him to make sure he has NOTHING else out of order, like building code violations or property issues,etc....the cops will use the visit to investigate the light as a means to find other violations.I doubt the man will be fined for repeatedly "tricking" the cops, but nothing is out of the question, especially when they will feel embarrassed for investigating a tomato grow or whatever. I am interested in the MARS, thanks OP for the upload.

Actual draw matters! So you are right it's not 400w
@dorrisgonnawreckyou7111
@dorrisgonnawreckyou7111 7 жыл бұрын
Its refering to the light output not the actual drawn wattage, if you google the explanation it does make sense. Its just easier to decide what area the light will cover if you know the light output in a familiar term. 400w LED should cover 9x9 square feet (well). despite pulling only 180

@VinceSamios

Basically whatever you can fit into a 3' by 3' space. I'm probably going to try for around 20 pak choi plants in the first grow.

depends how long you veg them for... im hearing 600grams dry from one plant in a 1 x 1 meter tent under 600 watts. key thing is to veg them longer.

This isn't a Mars II 400w. For one, the 4 hanging spots are in the wrong place on yours, and for two on the real Mars II series LEDs their are 2 switches on the top labeled growth and flower.

Isn't it 180w actual power drawn, rather than effective LED power/light Output? - the same way that a 5w Domestic LED lamp gives around luminescence output of a 40w incandescent lamp effectively. It would do this LED cluster more justice, if this is the case.. :)
