Today I want to talk about probably the most famous Soviet general of this time - Georgy Zhukov. Even during his lifetime he was called the Marshal of Victory. Zhukov appears in hundreds of books and dozens of movies. And they present him in different ways. That as a talentless butcher who pelted the enemy with corpses. Then as a brilliant commander. And in the 60's Zhukov himself wrote a memoir.
So let's try to combine all these three views and try to build a truthful image of the Marshal of Victory.
How did he survive the purges in the army in the late 30's? How did he become so popular? And why did Stalin want to shoot him after the war?
