Cool specs and the soup strainer is coming in nicely! Sorry to hear about the injury, but it seems you are on the mend. Awesome to see your progress and let us follow along in your journey back to your regular of 300bpm!

Love the glasses. Also the casual talk in the car. I hope you recover fully from that ankle. I will incorporate that warm up to my practice sessions. I was starting directly at 160 bpm. Thanks a lot for these videos sir!

Like always Marthyn, you take the Time to explain your methods with very good advices such as : it's not a competition but just the will for everyone of us to get better! If only I was sure I had a good enough level of English, I'd take a course at the DTA. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience with us!

On the subject of beater angles, I've found that even if you use a small beater angle, you can still get a large beater swing if your foot is playing at the back of the pedal. A 30 degree angle can be a 90 degree swing.

Hey man, thanks for showing this process you are going through. Maybe a year ago or even longer I had the same thing happen, and I have had the hardest time getting my left leg back up to where I was before. Glad to not feel alone in this situation haha. Good luck to you, hope you recover soon

I got injured during skiing. My whole left side from wrist to arm to shoulder to hip. Cannot do ankle tech above 190 anymore. So for me - thx to DTA - heel toe is the way to go. As for the left hand I took my time to recover. Currently playing around 230. pushing a little bit higher on a weekly! basis. End of the year will show, what was possible. Anyway, good recovery!

EAD 10 Sound! I instantly recognise ^^ Wonderfull piece of hardware. Anyway great video, showing us how you Marthyn are just one of us, practicing faithfully, with high and lows, trying to find the best ways to achieve your goals. Wish you the best, and thanx a lot for your dedication to practicing, understanding and teaching, that not only makes you a great drummer, but helps us improve ourselves.

Next time You visit Croatia say hello! Also some issues here with my ankle technique here... Was using 50-55° angle at least always, max spring tension, beaters long out almost all the way - good feeling for ankle technique. Could do bursts up to 250 and straight 220 for longer periods, but with all obligations life brings and less and less time to practice I just cannot keep up. At the moment I am playing singles (ankle technique with some swivel just to reduce the tightness in legs) up to 200 - 205 max (bursts up to 250 still) and everything else above 210 heel-toe (doubles) in long periods up to 250. Beater angle is reduced to maybe 35° or 40° and beater length as well for a bit, spring tension still max. I'd say I am the happiest at the moment with my playing just because I can always do my job. I worked on heel-toe for 5/6 months maybe (and not too much time involved in every practice) and it is quite good, but of course I still there is room to improve it and straighten it up. Wish You best luck with the challenge and that You never drop under 300 again! Thank You for all the videos - learned something in every each one of them :).

I sprained my left ankle bad and had to play a mini tour 2 weeks later. Was a category 3 sprain. Sucked cause of the muscle memory couldn't help it to not go fast! However it was extreme physical therapy 😅

A constant challenge I have had all my life is wanting to be able to play Downfall - Children Of Bodom flawlessly. Just 200bpm for 5 minutes. Somehow this song is a breeze for some drummers... heres looking at you Patrik Falt 😅 Took advice from your exercises and my feet already feel more responsive and precise at 180bpm I hope sometime soon to be able to play In My Kingdom Cold - Immortal (136bpm triplet)

I can't do ankle motion under 180bpm and I can't really do full leg motion at that speed either, so I have a huge gap in between 160-190 where I struggle with continuous double bass. I've always been fascinated how you can control it so well sub 200bpm!

You should try the excersice of going up 5 BPM a week. Start at 150, and keeping going up 5. Your muscles will perform muscle memory playing said tempos! Hope it helped! 🤟 Just my 2 cents! 😁

Wow,that's almost identical to my practice routine, even though I start by sorting out each foot for said time and then combining them.Do you do something like this for high speed blast beats whilst two footing ? Say something around 200-250 maybe ? Thanks in advance, hope you recover soon !

Hey Marthyn! Is your beater angle higher on your right foot, or left? I remember seeing an email from you somewhere saying both feet had same tension, but different beater angles. Thanks! 🤟
