Martial Arts techniques need to be executed with power in order to be effective. Some basic physics can help us understand where power comes from within any given martial arts technique. This is something that holds true regardless of the style or system of martial art being practiced. In kenpo karate, there is a concept called body momentum. The essence of which is learning how to move your body to enhance the momentum of your technique. Ultimately our goal is to bring as much mass into motion as quickly as possible. In this lesson, we explore ways of doing just that.
This martial arts class was filmed at Tigon Martial Arts in Belchertown, MA. Tigon Martial Arts specializes in a hybrid martial art system composed of Kempo Karate and White Crane Kung-Fu. This class was filmed during our 2015 season.
