I have a HD28, so tend towards the D28, but the D18 has a special sound also. Dang! We all need both. Even better if I could play like that.

D18 has more character and sounds more responsive, in my opinion.

Like the D-18 better. Had a D-28 lovely guitar but I like the mahogany better. More mids to me anyway. The D-18 sounds clearer to my old ears.

The fact that the D18 has scalloped braces makes a difference I think. It makes the the top more lively in my opinion.

Well, to my ears...the D18 is much more balanced across the strings. The D28 has a pronounced midrange that is sounding a bit hollow to me for some reason. The D18 just sounds more musical to me..of course that's just my old ears! Lol Great comparison Paolo, enjoyed it my friend!😊

Grazie Rick!!! Everyone has their own tastes...☺️ I can tell you that playing them I like them both and they are two deep different guitars!!!

@paolospadaro I agree with you and I meant to say that they're beautiful instruments! I owned a D28 years ago and it also had a lovely sound but it needed a neck reset and the truss rod was non-adjustable...so I traded it..which I deeply regret! Mistakes along the way!
