I met Dr. King when I was a little girl. He was in the back of a convertible car people was skaing his and I step up on the ledge of the car and held my hand out and we shooked hands. His hand was soft, beautiful skin a nice watch on and nice suit on and a nice ring. DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING WAS GORGEOUS. WE SMILE AT ONE NEITHER. I was so young. And I will never forget!! He was killed on April 4th, 1968. - And he had to go, I am convinced the powers that be wanted him gone, the FBI had removed protection). He tried to UNITE POOR people (of ALL races) and he had spoken out strongly against the Vietnam war at the end of fall of 1967 (then it cost him popularity but people would have remembered that he was ahead of the curve).

I have heard a lot about Dr. King’s interviews and speeches and every time I hear his voice I feel calm and amazed by the greatness of this black American with a purpose unimaginable!

What Dr. King understood was that even bringing an end to racism in the United States would not bring an end to generational and widespread poverty. The game was otherwise very rigged in favor of vested interests at the expense of the many. The nation's systems of property law and taxation had to be overhauled to create real equality of opportunity for all. In his final book, Dr. King quoted the American political economist (and twice candidate for the office of mayor of New York City) Henry George. Henry George did not focus on the elimination of racism in society; rather, he attacked privilege and monopoly privilege in all its forms, beginning with what Winston Churchill described as "the mother of all monopolies" -- the monopoly of a nation's land and natural resources. The end of slavery in the southern States turned millions of African-Americans into permanently exploited sharecroppers. As many moved to the industrializing north, competing with immigrants from all around the globe for employment and living space, those who owned the land in the cities were similarly able to claim a large part of what others produced. People exchanged one form of sharecropping for another.

The man could address any issue calmly and honestly. Wow how did America come so damn low as murdering such a humble person🤔?

I totally forgot that week that Harry Belafonte hosted the tonight show. It was truly historic and even more so when Dr. King was on there. He was one of my heroes. He spoke at my school, St. Brendan's in Chicago not long after this appearance on here. A short time later he was assassinated. He spoke truth to power and it irritated the powers that be at the time. He gave his life for the dignity and freedom of Black people and as this clips shows for the dignity and rights of ALL oppressed people who were/are poor and denied economic opportunities and the right to be fully included in the American dream. His talk was so clear and eloquent you just cannot be moved by what he was saying. His words from 1968 ring even louder 52 years later. King is the embodiment of what a christian should be like. In an intense period of racism, King was never bias. He was never of the mentality, my race is better than yours. He wasn't about black nationalism or black supremacy. However, he embraced the concept of equality and the christian ideal of love for mankind and not for one particular group or race of people. It was so christian for him to not exclude, but to include other nationalities of poor people and not just blacks in the category of needing help. What a great man! Christian love is all about loving our neighbor as self. A neighbor is one who is of a different nationality or creed, and not one who is necessarily of the same race.

Most inspiring Hollywood superstar of all time because he stands up for human rights in the 60s regardless of the circumstance, he put his carrier to the background speak up against all the wrong things that the whites was doing to the blacks in a America and played a major role in helping MARTIN LUTHER KING, Many thanks MR HARRY BELAFONTE my SUPERHERO, THE BLACKSTONES

it is to be noticed that just after he decided to make his main trust on social rights (not that he didn't supported them before, he did) he was murdered, he lost the favour of the part of "establishment" that at least pretended to be on his side, than this part of his struggle was near totally blanketed out so that he could be rembered exclusively for his civil rights struggles (which where massively important, but as it is showned in this video he wasn't limited to that)

Yes ,systemic racism is some of our problem but not having discipline is some of the problem to.there are jobs out there some black people aren’t prepared to get those job cause they want go to trade schools or learn trades themselves just to much self destruction in the black community and I blame not having at least one parent to teach.
