Great-sounding guitar. Beautiful playing too! Love those chords!

Great guitar and great review. Only thing is, the quality of the sound coming across the internet doesn't do it justice. I have an M-36 I bought in 2012. I must say, it sounds better in person. The richness of tone just isn't coming across.

I've wanted one of these for well over a decade. I live in Bozeman and there was a used one in there a few years ago for $1700. I should've pulled the trigger on that one. It was just a weird time in my life. Awesome video, awesome store and I/m getting me on e these this year. This is my main focus for a guitar this year. Thanks for the video.

Corey, so glad to hear you demo that guitar with some finger and flat picking in addition to strumming. Also good to hear a guitar played both hard as well as softly. Just like the J-40 that is mentioned in passing by Paul as Martin's Jumbo, the M-36 can take anything you can throw at it and stay clean, clear and crisp.

I got one back in 2010 but had to go custom to get the 1 3/4" nut! It was my first bona fide Martin, too. I got a sunburst and italian alpine spruce top while I was at it, too, and bound the headstock for some reason. Still my only bona fide Martin (although I have a few Gibsons). If I could only have one guitar, it might be this one. I would have just gotten this standard version though if I were doing it now!

I love Quinton's bluegrass style playing. But man, Corey's blues chops is where it's at!

I've got a 1978 D28 I inherited from my Dad years ago and it sounds sweet. Its a very loud guitar for sure, but my M36 has plenty of volume as well just not quite as much, but it sounds a little more (mid forward) to me and it's definitely easier on the fingers! I think the M36 has a slight larger width at the nut, or it feels that way to me. I love the D28 but if I had to choose just one it would be the M36. There's nothing like a Martin!

This video pretty much sealed the M-36 as my next Martin.

so...it's about the same price point as the d-35, correct? is this one more for recording, and the d-35 more for on-stage bluegrass? Is that the differentiator?

If anyone cruises by, please know that there is now a Facebook page dedicated to the great "overlooked" guitars of Martin -- M-36, M-38 and the J-series. Check us out.

Keep sayin' I'm gonna' stop watchin' these, they're gonna' force me into BK. Bright side, my girlfriend just purchased a Martin from 'Villa ... with money I lent her for "something"! Guess she got sick of me rambling on (according to her) after watching these vids.
