Author of ‘Enlightenment - The Keys To Consciousness.’ Martyn only talks from his own experience. He was an ordinary guy with a normal life; family, work and all the usual stresses. He met Maria who was interested in spiritual enlightenment and at first he was very sceptical of her interest. He set out to disprove that such a thing existed and worked hard to find faults in her arguments. But then ‘the impossible happened’ and he actually started to wake up himself. He found a method that stilled his mind, and his thoughts would stop for few seconds. He persevered and in time those few seconds became a few minutes. He then found he could stop all uncontrolled thoughts and was in control of his mind. What had been his master became his servant. He talks us through his story and shares the method that he found worked for him as a meditation.

Iain, you are an excellent interviewer who really gets to the heart of the matter. Thank you -- all three of you -- for this truly enlightening talk and demonstration.

This is one of the most refreshing, authentic interviews I've seen on the spiritual media scene. There are so many tedious clowns out there with egos the size of planets who profess to be egoless. ("I can read Tibetan riding a unicycle, recite the yoga sutras doing backflips and synchronize my brainwaves while juggling tai chi balls - and I've transcended pride and vanity, to boot!") Martyn is not one of them. His open mind, natural curiosity, investigative spirit and persistence are really admirable qualities, and he never blows his own trumpet. Motivating.

What would be so impressive living a life without having a single thought? It's virtually impossible to begin with and wouldn't even be a permanent phenomenon. The REAL issue is breaking the identification with the thoughts through the recognition that they're unreal to begin with.

no thoughts actually mean , no selfreferrential thoughts .The stories u make up in your mind and the eternal monologe. You keep having functional planning thoughts just as a tool what their function really are. Check gary webber on youtube n he explains it very well i think in accordance of the falling away of the default mode network.

Slower though will bring peace and tranquillity in life. Gradually self (ego) will start eroding. But this is not enlightenment in reality. As long as mind ( not brain) does not dye, enlightenment does not reveal. Such state of permanent mindlessness is stated as MANONASHA by Raman Maharshi.

Lovely - some real gems, here. It's amazing how some things can find their way into words - or perhaps it's the energy we're reading or telepathy or something. Anyway, thumbs-up & fav for this one. Occam's Razor rules :)) ~♥~

OK, but I stick at this division of thoughts into controlled and uncontrolled. That is exactly like saying that there are controlled and uncontrolled lightening bolts.

If you able to think that it was a thoughtless state simply means that thought was very much there.

I ain't talking without experience. Even thinking process has its own rhythm. Forget thoughtless state, even if you loose thinking rhythm momentarily you'll fall apart. He is not being able to express the state correctly and simply labeling it as a thoughtless state. My point is: In that state he must be atleast asking a question "In what state I'm right now?" that's why thought will always be there may or may not be in the form of words.

why would you want to sit on a mountain alone and not suffer ego's? There must be still an ego present if you feel this way. Also who would want to wake people up? why would there be a need?
