Y'know what? I'd actually be interested in seeing a "passing of the torch", so to speak. Write a story about Captain America getting older and training his successor. And if you're so desperate for token representation, make the successor *insert target identity here*. But don't make the story about that - make it about trying to live in the shadow of a legend like Cap - trying to live up to his example and failing, but growing through failure.

@Sandy V. I think his point is that your sexual orientation is also not a personality trait. If your orientation is the most interesting thing about you, then you're too boring to hold a 5-minute conversation with, let alone star in your own comic book. Nothing wrong with being gay or whatever, but it shouldn't be the defining trait of a character, either. I'm sure there are plenty of gay folks out there who are wildly interesting people, and their homosexuality is just a footnote.
@alexanders26694 жыл бұрын
Cody Barrett That’s the point most writers don’t understand when they try to create gay characters. They make “gay” their entire personality, when it shouldn’t be. That should be in the trivia section of their wikia page, not the fucking personality and appearance section like so many of those shitty writers start putting it.

But while attacking me for räce mixing, they also shared the CUTEST picture from the book, which of Santa and his husband smooching under a mistletoe. I had a "hero" NPC in my Champions game named Plushie Baby, she was based upon the anime magical girl trope and her powers were a backpack. It was a demonic backpack that ate souls and spat out animated plush animals with powers stolen from supers the backpack ate. So backpack of power I came up with 15 years ago lol. Plushie Baby was ostensibly a hero but you never wanted to be alone with her, especially if you had a power she wanted to collect.
@SleekHeroo2 ай бұрын
This is a really interesting character cuz it actually involves thinking how the story would go. Cuz if u want to progess the story with her being stronger she has to eat the enemies or heroes (idk if she's an anti-hero) which obviously invokes from mental drama. This should've been there instead of that Trailblazer shit. Edit:- You have just invoked the child writes in me and I'm going to rant a little bit, sorry in advance. I think Harley Quinn personality would perfectly suit her and her backstory could be that she was put up for adoption by her parents as she was a bit crazy and says about some voices calling out for her and during her stay at the orphanage she finds that demon backpack from somehwere and takes it, she realizes that it was the demon bag that was calling out for her as she was the first "human" who could sense it. And she could already have a few op superpowers beforhand because when she was little her town was attacked by a infamous villian group and the supes who got there defeated the villians but were very badly injured that they couldn't save Harley (that name is a placeholder) so she takes it upon herself and due to her selfish nature to survive by sacrificing other (learnt that from the abuse of her parents) and makes her backpack eat the supes and use their power to escape from the said trouble and like that she eats a few other super who were badly injured and her current plot could be her trying to connect the gap between her friends The Warriors (the good ones) and forgiving herself and overcoming her selfish desires. What do you think?
@phookadude2 ай бұрын
@@SleekHeroo Cool ideas. One of the things i explored a lot in the games I ran was the idea of people with powers that force them to one side or another. Plushie Baby wasn't much of a good guy as supers were easier to take than villains, she eventually got eaten by her own backpack as it swallowed itself. I had a super who was basically a walking nuclear core and he exiled himself to the Sahara so he could be a hero without hurting the innocent. Something we did that worked really well was an "amnesia" game where the group were supers and villains summoned to a fantasy world and they lost their memories. I asked the players what kind of powers they wanted and then made the characters for them, part of the game was people finding out what side they were originally on as their memories came back through dreams.

I think a look at gen z superheroes would be interesting, as I fell existentialism is a major theme of that generation. So an exploration of forced positions of leadership on a group which tends towards apathy might be interesting. But yeah the current direction they’re going is from an out of touch millennials view of what a gen z person is, so it looks more like the aesthetic of gen z without the underlying themes (irony, apathy, distrust, etc.) and instead it seems that these characters are exclusively woke without any of the existential dread.
@brandonburnham78312 жыл бұрын
They never really touch on the underlying causes of anything, mainly lack of resources and hopelessness. It’s one thing to have a philosophical question of whether to put on Superman’s cape but it’s entirely different if you have to choose between saving the old lady’s purse or keeping your job and your home because your job doesn’t care you’re Clark Kent. Apathy seems a pretty mild symptom of a community that forgot about people. What would compel the disenfranchised to fight for the cornerstone of the institution that’s failed them?

As you could probably see from my pfp, I was a huge comic fan, but no one can deny the impact of anime and manga industry nowadays. In 2020, Demon Slayer, just one manga out of thousands, alone sold more copies than the entirety of comic industry. Also One Piece has surpassed Spiderman and Batman in lifetime sales and is slated to surpass Superman by next yr to become the highest selling comic book in history across the world.

Ignoring the rest of them, Screentime could actually be a really good anti-hero or villain, assuming you changed his backstory. The kid was obsessed with technology and ended developing tech which could really mess with our modern and electronic lives. Being young (under 25), he has yet to fully realize the potential effects of his actions, and with the ability to wipe bank accounts, mess with social media, and disrupt national security, he goes on a rampage, either to realize the hard way the error of his ways and do his best to hunt cyber criminals, or he doesn't learn at all and develops an extreme hatred for anyone using modern technology, constantly harassing them hiding behind multiple aliases.
