To be fair, the Harkonnens on Arrakis are being led by Rabban, who in canon is established as an idiot who was set up to fail and be replaced by Feyd.

One final middle finger by this movie: The bad guy is named Belisarius. There was a Roman general named Belisarius. A man who is historically perhaps the single most loyal and competent Roman general in history. The man's honesty and trustworthiness was such a byword, his actual enemies would come to him for advice, knowing he wouldn't steer them wrong. And that's the name they picked for the treacherous imperial general. Fuckers.

I liked "PREY". Lots of folks did. 😁 Anyhoo, the plot was a bit too contrived & over-complicated and only met it's own under title at the 3rd act, but I was entertained nonetheless. I don't expect every movie I see to test my IQ so I can act like a spoiled brat all the time. BUT AT LEAST... it wasn't Woke. 😜

as an animator and story maker, there is these 2 quotes that I follow by heart from the creators of Tom & Jerry cartoons: "I hope we don't get to the point where we have to have the cat stop chasing the mouse to teach him glassblowing and basket weaving." & "I first pitched the idea of doing a series of cartoons based on Bible stories. They didn't much like it." - Joseph Barbera. they didn't create Tom and jerry to teach kids anything. The reason this cartoon was created is to make people laugh, young and old. that's why it stayed forever. if I create cartoons based on religion, politics, or agendas, it's not going to go any further than that. it's called "media entertainment" for a reason. it's supposed to entertain people. not lecture them. leave the lecturing to schools and libraries. movies and cartoons are supposed to be FUN. that's why I will create content just so people can watch and have fun and be entertained.

‘The Gentlemen’ is the real benchmark these days. What can be done when the show runner actually gives the audience what they want. Not something less crap than it’s predecessor like the GB franchise

I do agree with what you said but it can go the other way as well. too much freedom can ruin the experience of a movie or a piece of media entertainment. the key here is balance. because some movies make it a challenge were they would do almost anything and everything just for shock value. and the next movie would try to go a step further and push the envelope harder in how much they would get away with a story filled with debauchery and calling it "artistic license". I myself as an animator and story maker, grew up in the Middle East where censorship is the norm and you are right it created sheepish-confirmative people as a result of this indoctrination. they would take the already censored Hollywood movies and would censor it even more. I would never want my work to go through that. all my life i had to conform and live in too many restraints. art is the only freedom I have left in this world where I could create anything without any agendas, politics or restraints.

There is one obvious answer to everyone's complaints about these awful films: this was CLEARLY written by AI. This is a taste of what we have to look forward to. Idk why Snyder chose to just accept literally everything the computer shat out. But he did. And what we get is the MOST generic everything. Then he filmed it. I sincerely like Watchmen. I also liked Sin City and 300, but I was in my early 20's and less discerning. I never thought they were art, but I thought they were entertaining. Watchmen is good bc it follows the comic VERY closely. And the comic really is art. Super powered humans are so unrealistic, so here is a superhero world where NO ONE has any super powers. No crooks, no heroes. But... inexplicably the least realistic, most powerful character in comic history (and that's saying something) is also there. So one thing has super powers. Like major powers. But it works. He's SOOO powerful, it's interesting again. And he really doesn't have a weakness. There is no kryptonite.

It’s pretty hard to get me to actively desire the death of the dragon in a movie (massive dragon nerd) but I here I am. I desperately wish this movie actually ended with the dragon’s fire gland or whatever the biology of this thing is ruptured from Strong Female Character #1260 accidentally letting go of her sword mid swing and it just turned into a fiery inferno that consumed everyone

The musicians aren't actors, just extras, so why not get real musicians instead of obvious fakers (as in Titanic)? So cheap.

I'm surprised that critical drinker didnt mention how the plot is just awful, the liquid that the plot revolves around that drinker mentioned is used to invent cold fusion, thing is cold fusion already existed in the power armor the brother hood wears, the fusion core are literally cold fusion energy, and that's just one discrepancy over a whole Bunch of cracks in the main plot and character plot.
