I’ve always understood it as follows: Timelines are effects of different choices in one world. Dimensions are different planes of existence that exist in one universe. Alternate universes are entire concepts of reality that exist adjacent to another.

The multiverse = a forest A universe = a tree A timeline = a branch A dimension = a layer of a tree Before anyone says dimensions exist outside universes, the MCU is officially just one universe of the greater Marvel multiverse, and shares that multiverse with every other Marvel Universe, and we've seen that there are different Dark Dimensions and different Hells (etc) for every universe in the Marvel Multiverse, with the Dark Dimension of the MCU being a different one from the Dark Dimension of Earth-616, different from the one of Earth-96173, etc. Just think, if they were the same dimension, then there would be just one Dormammu, the same one that has fought an infinite number of Dr. Strange's from different universes, yet MCU Dormammu has clearly never seen Dr. Strange before and even lacks a concept of time. Hell, we have seen 55 different Dormammus over the years across different universes of Marvel fiction!

I agree. The “sacred timeline” is more like a collection of different universes all happening at the same time. Think of it as a series of different shoe strings all rolled up into a long, vertical rope. Every one of the universes was made by he who remains to follow a certain set of events that would lead away from the possibility of an evil Kang variant being born and thus starting another multiversal war

It's easier to Think of the sacred timeline as a sacred multiverse. It's a smooth ring of different timeline realities bundled together that are all neatly trimmed so that no deviations made lead to evil Kang. We always had the multiverse, it was just very orderly thanks to he who remains.

Could an example of what you were trying to explain at 12:30 mark be that of tuning a radio? Meaning that all the radio stations are available/present within a given room but in order to access them, the dial must be changed to the appropriate frequency.

@@aurora9883 but I thought he controlled the time lines and not the other universes. So does this mean that the kangs from different universes aren't actually variants because variants are generated from deviations from the time line. So who is he who remains trying to stop, is he trying to stop variants from the time line from his universe or from the kangs from the timelines of the other universes seeing that their are infinite universes as well as infinite time lines?

@@hysyanzrecords the MCU operates under a Quantum Branch Multiverse. This model doesn’t distinguish “timelines” or universes. Kang (or probably more accurately, Immortus) ensured that there was only one universe/timeline in order to prevent multiverse war. The sort of Multiverse you’re referring to when you say “non-variant Kangs” ... well it could be any number of interpretations, but the Marvel Multiverse doesn’t operate under those parameters, at least as far as we’ve been shown. So unless the MCU were to implement a Brane universe or even a Whole Sort of General Miss Mash, it’s safe to assume that there was only one He Who Remains, and only one Time Variance Authority until Sylvie killed him.

I believe one Force Power you missed is both in Legends and Canon. "Battle Meditation" It allows you to basically coordinate a battle by being a focal point where you are aware of everyone around you, and give orders accordingly. Also I think there is a telepathic element to it (or maybe they were talking over comms).

Yes the Quantum Realm seems to be a zone that is independent of the timelines. It seems as if any character from any timeline would go down into the same Quantum Realm. However, if that were the truth, then when a character ends up down there they should simultaneously wind up with a bunch of their variants. And not only that, but in What If there is a version of the Quantum Realm where Janet got a quantum zombie virus. So, how is that possible? And how many Quantum Realms are there?

“dimension” has been used in the worn meaning since the comics started in the 40. There’s on 4 “dimensions” length, hight, width, and time. “dimension” doesn’t mean another reality or universe.

There were actually 2 force screams in Revenge of the Sith. The second one was used by Sidious as he leaped out from behind his desk when fighting Windu & Co. This scream momentarily dazed Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar, and Saesee Tin, which is why they were killed so quickly and easily. Windu apparently resisted its effects.

The Duat is another plane of existence within each universe so its a dimension. Multiverse of madness is the characters hopping from one universe to another these universes are branches from the original timeline

If Sylvie is a Loki variant from a different universe, how did Sylvie arrive in lokis universe. Because the sacred time line is made up of multiple strands/time lines of the "same" Loki at various points in time.

Each strand is actually a universe and each universe has minor to semi-major differences from the others. These differences could be the timelines of each universe, the people in each universe such as their gender, race, personality, outfit, or all of the above.

One of my favorite Force powers from Star Wars Legends is channeling kinetic energy. Jedi Master Corran Horn is one of the few Jedi to exhibit this power. A Jedi is able to take a direct hit from a blaster bolt and channel the energy into their Force action and amplify that action. In the book “I, Jedi”, Corran Horn is involved in a shootout with a gang and survives unscathed despite his clothes practically charred off his body.

They're trying to appeal to a more general audience though, and honestly one of the things I (someone who i'd say is more into it than general audiences but less so than complete die hard fan boys) love about the films (so far) is that they have a logic you can follow. If they start going completely wild with no regard for consistency across the MCU then they will lose fans and therefore money ect. They're pushing it now by slowly bringing in the multiverse in a more complete and open form and frankly how they go about explaining and using that in this next phase is going to have a huge impact on the future of the MCU. I hope they do it well and it works and they're able to maintain a logic and a flow to the overall arc of the mcu like we had throughout the infinity saga. Not everyone watches the disney+ shows, not everyone (in fact very few) watches youtube videos by people who break down the details of the world. And they need to create these films in a way that they work for those people who aren't doing those things otherwise the numbers will start dropping wildly.

I still can't get behind that the creature in Guardian Vol 2 has anything to do with what Captain Carter dealt with. In agents of shield a Hydra creature from another world is featured. I can't imagine the leader of Hydra would summon a random creature and not the thing they worship.

One thing I thought about is that there was only one timeline.. then Sylvie killed he who remains..which made it branch out..so therefore that means there was always a timeline that branched during say the 1600s. So it would seem to those that there has always been a branched timeline..even though there once wasnt

Each Universe contains it’s own set of dimensions. For example our universe contains I believe 10 dimensions, but we’re only able to perceive 3. 1D, 2D and 3D

If loki (the leading character) leaves from his time line (season 1)during the arrest scene in avenger movie, and him eventually being getting later occupied in the TVA and sitting on the throne holding the timeline strings(season 2 last episode), doesn't have distroys the existence of the Loki's movies appearance from that point onward?
