You can tell she is still sad about it all these years later. It's hard to just stop working people you have spent that much time with.

@mct1967 According to most of what I've read and heard in various interviews and such, Mary didn't want the show to end. She wanted to go at least one or two more seasons before calling it to an end. The producers and writers wanted to end it because they didn't feel they could keep the high quality of the show going any longer, and they didn't want to end up like I Love Lucy. Again, that's just what I've read and heard.

A new book called "Mary and Lou and Rhoda and Ted" will be release on May 7. So it might set the story straight on why the show ended.

I guess I'm confused....Mary blamed the writers and producers for ending the show, but Betty White in the footage to the right blames Mary for ending the show, because Mary wanted to do a dance show. I wonder what the truth is. Maybe both.
