Your knowledge and the way of delivery is amazing. I don't think that anybody else in India is talking so sensibly about cooking and the ingredients. Gratitude.

I'm a Neet student... Yesterday, I had confusions on a topic related to pressure cooker from the chapter States of matter, I searched for many mind-blowing videos for this in youtube.i didn't get one & then, i went into your channel & searched for a vid of you talking about pressure cooker. Yet, didn't get one specifically but, my intuition said "may be in this video named HYDROGEN, you explain things about pressure cooker & @ 6:15, with your single line, I understood the concept😅 & I'm proud of myself that I could atleast choose the right source!😊 Thankyou so much for this video!✨

Bias against onion and garlic has nothing to do with Buddhism and Jainism. It is an ancient dharma shastra rule. It appears that these two (and also leeks and mushrooms) were considered to be growing from impurity and hence one was asked to not eat. It is incidentally the first dietary rule shloka in Manu Smriti.

The earliest written version of the manusmriti (of which many versions exist, and are mutually inconsistent with each other) is well after Mahavira or Buddha. To be fair, I think the better way to frame this is to not draw a hard line between these faiths at that time in history

@@krishashok Yes, I agree no strict line can be drawn. However, though Manu smriti may be later, Gautama Dharma sutra, which is generally considered the earliest dharma sutra text and is generally considered pre-buddhist, does mention mushrooms and garlic (though it doesn't mention onion) as forbidden. Incidentally, it also refers to sprouts as not acceptable! Maybe because it is a young plant.
