I feel like Fontaine is gonna have my favorite story out of them all. An archon who claims that her people are sinless and judges everyone else, but underneath the surface its full of wicked hearts. So much potential and so many directions they can go, I am hyped.

Oh gosh, reading this comment made me want to spurt out my theory I wrote on Amino here. If you would let me... So basically, I think the Hydro Archon is obsessed with being pure and sinless for a reason. And this reason is that she feels guilty. So I know she seems all confident and pretentious, but that might just be a mask she puts on, a masquerade. I think she feels guilty because of the Cataclysm, in which she was probably forced to destroy Khaenri'ah and participated to the transformation of its people in monsters against her will. She's the God of Justice, after all. How could she think all of this was fair ? _(Maybe there's an other reason to it, but I think every archon will have something important that happened in Khaenri'ah from now on (exemple : Venti rewakened during the Cataclysm and Dvalin got corrupted at this time, Zhongli signed a contract to not speak of this event, Ei's sister death, Dendro archon's birth/previous Dendro archon's death...))_ But going back to what I said, she did it anyway, because this was probably Celestia's orders. Orders that she had to obey. But afterwards, the guilt didn't disappear. Even after 500 years. Was it just ? Was it fair ? The answer is probably no to her. But she lies to herself by putting a mask on her face with the inscription "Yes, it was" written on it. And I think she's doing that because she's scared. Scared of being punished, judged, if the gods of Celestia learned of her disapproval of their decisions. So even if she's "guilty", she will act as if she wasn't and will endoce the role of a pure and fair god, that no one can judge besides Celestia; to who she will do everything she can to be the most innocent possible. So as not to be judged. But I don't think her fear stops to herself. If she risks to be judged, the people of Fontaine are also in danger, as they're the nation with the most advanced technology out of all. She fears that her people will know the same fate as those of Khaenri'ah; maybe even worse. So she will put rules, create laws that should be respected, as no one in Fontaine could be identified as someone guilty for one thing or an other. And those who don't respect these laws, even the smallest one, must probably pay some... heavy consequences. -death, perhaps ?- So my guess is that Fontaine might be kind of a strict nation. In which you should dress up of a certain manner, act and talk in a certain way... I think that can explain Oceanid's lines : If you didn't know, Oceanid was the equivalent of Yae for Ei, the previous Hydro Archon's servant. But she doesn't like the current Hydro Archon at all, so she left the nation of justice and exiled herself in Liyue instead. And I think the reason why she doesn't like the new Hydro archon is not because of her ideals that might differ from the previous Hydro Archon, but maybe the way she applies it. As I said, Fontaine might a strict nation, in which people should behave in a certain way to not be judged by their goddess. But Oceanid sounds like she prefers something more... free. "Pure water can take on many forms" "The power of water is its ability to take any shape" Oceanid has more an idea of a free fluent water, that is able to adapt in everything and in every way. Which differs from the Hydro Archon's ideal, which is more representative of water trapped in a perfect square-shape, that can only stay in this form without a single movement or imperfection in its shape. _Edit :_ BDJDBXJXJ I'M SO GLAD YOU LIKE THIS THEORY AS WELL 😭😭✨ Btw I also said that to someone down there, but the event rn with the magic rocks in the Chasm (I'm sorry I don't know their English name x")) kinda goes well with my theory ! Patrice tells us that if his research amounted to nothing, he might get killed when he goes back in Fontaine! The laws there seems to be extremely complicated too, which is apparently something that Yanfei confirms somewhere in her voicelines or something 🤔 SO YEAH THAT KINDA FITS BLBLNDDOKD- Although he doesn't seem to hold any grudge onto his country, so my guess is, Fontaine is extremely strict and punishes its people too harshly, but the citizens don't notice that, and believe their archon is doing what is just, pure and beautiful. Maybe Lyney and Lynette (the two Fontaine characters we see in the travail trailer) will be ones of the few who are aware of the strictness of their nations, aren't blind by the light of the scene where their archon and nation play and are able to see what's going on behind the curtains.

@@Heosmin You know Rhodeia of Locht (or whatever it’s spelled, I mean Oceanid) well it is from Fontaine. It apparently went to Liyue because it didn’t like the new hydro archon’s behaviour. So what if the new hydro archon is corrupted and is guilty to make innocent people go to prison just because she doesn’t want the blame on her?

We look these two characters right now and they're simply unknown people, but when we finally arrive this nation we will be with them, interact and see how their personality is, the same that happened with Ayaka i guess. It's really exciting to see how you don't know nothing about them, but it the future we will see people simping, doing memes or talking about their low or broken damage. I love that.

thats one of the things I like about Genshin. knowing about a character's existence but not knowing a thing about them, sometimes not even what they look like. people come up with fan designs and theories on who they are gonna be as a character. then the character finally releases and we get to know them.

Honestly, I’m most hyped for Fontaine. Sumeru, Natlan, Sheznaya, etc. are cool and all but Fontaine has the most potential to be the best in my opinion. Not really going off much but I love the overall aesthetic and Lyney and Lynette and the idea of the Archon of Justice.

I also feel like our unanswered questions will probably be covered in Fontaine after Sumeru is done, since Sumeru is the land of knowledge but they won't tell us anything so easily. Then maybe what the pyro archon tells us in Natlan will be like 'the final nail in the coffin' before we traverse into Shezhnaya and chase after the Cryo Archon.

When I first encountered this anime, I searched the things it referenced throughout the storyline, so I could learn a lot with it (another anime like that is Gosick, a great work of art). It is wonderful for personal repertoire, so I totally get you.

I'm still so excited for Fontaine. It's literally the only region I've actively been waiting for BECAUSE it's everything I love. Down to the circus themed characters, to murder mystery, carnival-esk music, down to it just being the Hydro region, I can't explain how this place will have eveything I love. I have to keep reminding myself to push through life for this region. I know it sounds silly and pretty pathetic to make your goal to see a game arch, but I need money for a new phone that can actually hold more than one game. Genshin takes up so much space that pretty soon I won't have more and we're barely getting Sumeru. If characters are going to look like Lynette and Lyney, I know damn well I'm gonna need a good job for a short period, or at least a decent paying one over a long time to whale... this whole region is my weakness...

This is the region im most excited with. Judging by their clothing. Their nation looks like their in the modern times. Fantasy style of Teyvat plus modern elements would look so good

Just my theory but listen here : Medieval France had a pretty big Revolution . Just keep this in mind as Fontaine is basically supposed to be kind of Medieval France.The hydro archon will be the god of justice but she herself is one who can't judge others (cuz she is a b ) and rules with an iron fist to control her citizens. Rhodesia is from Fontaine if I am correct and she herself says (an assasin from our homeland or a fool who trespasses upon the waters of Qingxue) what if she is being searched for by the hydro archon cuz she was the pet of the archon. (Much like Dvalin to Venti and Azdaha to Zhongli and now kind of miko to Raiden) . We have to team up with the harbingers to bring down her tyranny and put an end to her Masking of the guilty ( a masquerade is basically a party where people dance while wearing masks ) and she get judged for her sins on her people. This is made and edited during the 2.2 update btw if I am correct.

It's def not medieval France. I'd say it that it could potentialy take place during the industrial revolution era. The cameras, the big furnace in Inazuma, hell they can even produce movies! All of these inventions come from Fontaine. And IRL they were also invented during that period (industrial rev.) What comes after medieval France is renaissance, but it still doesn't match the modernity of Fontaine and npcs clothes.

Yooo this is super lit, Natlan next letss go The classical piece i can hear in this is obviously saint saens aquarium,but what is the other one lol. Im guessing chopin etude op 25 no 12 "ocean" because of the piano part really feel similar to that piece. Or maybe it was liszt un sospiro? idk i just feel all piano piece that has arpeggio can make it to here

A masquerade party (a party with dressing up with masks on ) and i think the hydro archon will be also disguised in the party itself. Later the traveler might pass the archon without knowing and finally at the end of the party paimon is missing and the kidnapper is the hydro archon :) *This is just a fan story what I think could happen*

The part at 0:17 reminded me of the medieval ages and sort of pirate sea shanties. I've heard the instrument before but I can't quite name it. Anyway, this was a good rendition, using the 8-bar motif to good effect without much feeling of repetition.

I feel like the hydro archon gonna be the villain of fontain. since dain tells us in the teyvat story preview that “won’t make a enemy of the divine(celestia)” feels like she is the most loyal archon to celestia. Getting her gnosis gonna be extremly hard for tsaritsa since unlike ei,zhongli AND venti that gave their gnosis willingly. Zhongli made a contract, venti didn’t fight back and ei never used it and gave it to yae. really hyped for fontain probably gonna be my second fav reigon next to Inazuma.

The entire song, the clothing, and everything else just gives me like Victorian era like Fontaine will just be Victorian style like the 1880’s and stuff like that with Jack the Ripper. I can’t tell if I feel like it’s more French Victorian or English but I feel like it’s more French but basically European style. Think of Black Butler or The Case Study of Vanitas style. That’s what I feel like Fontaine is gonna look like and Lyney & Lynette look like circus street thieves

(What I’m imagining as a cutscene for Fontaine’s opening) traveller and paimon, exploring an empty field/forest, chasing a figure dressed in a cloak and masquerade mask. Suddenly, they are hit by a cloud of smoke, and traveller loses consciousness. They wake up in a ballroom in the middle of fontaine, where people are dancing all around them. and sitting on the throne in the middle is the hydro archon herself. She points towards the traveller. “Welcome, traveller, to fontaine! Song, dance, performance-we have it all, please, do not hesitate to join us!” “Who are you?! And how did we get here!” Paimon cries. “Tsk tsk. Rule number one: no asking questions, little one. Fontaine will lose it’s appeal if it doesn’t maintain it’s sense of mystery.” “B-but! That’s not fair!” “Are you.. judging me?” “Yeah! It’s not fair to-“ “Guards.” Suddenly, a masked figure approaches, and takes paimon. The next moment, they’re both gone. “What are you doing with her!” The traveller shouts. “Hehehe…. If you want your… pet, back, I have a deal for you. Join my performance. If you can truly Impress me, and I judge you as worthy, you can have her back.” “And if I don’t?” “Well, let’s just say that fontaine is the closest region to celestia.”

I think that Fontaine will have dictators and different guilds. Kind of like the old Mondstadt. I also imagine that the situation in Fontaine would be like 1700-1800 France. Maybe one of the archon quests will include us trying to calm the poor (poor as in financial situation) citizens of Fontaine down, to prevent an event similar to the French resolution.

Bro I actually lovee themes like this. I love a dark mystery, suspense, kind of thing. Another thing I absolutely love about Fontaine is that it's a nation of justice and law, and I absolutely LOVE anything about that topic. Idk but like Fontaine is everything that I LOVE in one nation and I just can't wait for when it finally comes out. And that's just the theme of the nation, IMAGINE the goddamn story.. like bro I litterly can't wait.

I'm honestly really excited for Fontaine and these two! They looks adorable and I'd like to see how both of them work. Will they be like Rozaliya and Liliya in which Liliya just pops up from time to time to fight with Rozaliya or will it be like Seele wherein she switches to Veliona during her burst. Maybe it could also just be the skill where they switch character or maybe their released separately. Either way I'm hyped for these two! :DD
