When using the roller i recommend rolling towards the heart ( eg. from the foot to the hip or from the hand to the shoulder ) This prevents overfilling and potentially rupturing valves in veins if rolled against the flow of venous blood which might lead to varicose veins.
@badmiyagi4 жыл бұрын
Good advice! My chiropractor (trusted one, lol) improved my technique even though I wasn’t applying pressure on the downward pass. Pressure is to be applied on the upward stroke/pass toward the heart. Thx!

this advice should be in bold, highlighted and underlined. Thank you!
@Grimhurst3 жыл бұрын
@MiekoNeko yes - just one direction ( towards the heart so avoiding possible damage to veins ).

Yep, never could use the foam roller to get rid of the knots in the ham string

They're just too awkward, these sticks really hit the spot
@rudra43764 жыл бұрын
foam rollers are primarily designed for upper back and lats and it bands , its obvious it wont work on hams and arms and legs that efficiently bc of their thicknesses

Steve, is it recommendable to use a roller immediately prior to a race? Or is that something that could impact performance negatively on race day? Cheers!!
@kalclashfitness6 жыл бұрын
I can only speak from experience here but I do and I find it helps. I tend to roll before any hard effort or race. I don't put quite as much torque behind it though as I do for post run 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

yes, I am picking one of those! thanks for the tips!

Looks like a good bit of kit, I’ve been using my foam roller and rolling pin recently as I increase the mileage in the vibrams 👍

Jon Zygon rolling pins are also a great shout dude!! I've broken a lot of them though 😁

Just bought one after watching your vid, looks so much easier then trying to roll on the floor with the foam roller, I do training for pro wrestling and I think this will be a game changer for sore muscles especially after delayed soreness where its hard to walk 😂

Great vidio. I just bought from the link you suggest on amazon. My quads are in so much pain... I cant wait to get it so I can get back to running. Thanks from New York.

What do you think of leg training/gym 5*5 sorta lifting work/ in the gym during the running off-season base training?? I miss having stronger legs and want to hit the squat rack again but i'm getting more into running and don't want to stop running for 3 months. Thoughts? Nice video format by the way, tho I do miss the shed.
@kalclashfitness6 жыл бұрын
Hey man, you should do what you enjoy. If you you enjoy running and lifting - do both. If you prefer being as fast as you can on race day then probably best to stay away from the 5*5's. I would say do what you love dude, 5*5's is a great program and running brings so much joy - so do both if you want!!

It’s been a few weeks, but this video peaked my curiosity and I just got my own from ebay a few days ago. I have seen it before, but have always regarded it as more of a gimmick. I was wrong, and although I have only used it a few times, it has proven itself as a useful piece of kit. Just as described in this video. I am going on vacation soon, where I plan on doing some running, and this roller have already secured a place in my luggage. So thanks a lot for this tip, it was just what I needed

Do you use anything to massage your feet? I'm starting on longer runs and find my feet are quite tight and sore afterwards. Any suggestions?

I've been running for a few years and never owned one of these till today. Been experiencing my thighs locking up after a mile after being able to run up to a half now i can barely do a mile without being in pain. I'm hoping the stick can help fix it, no one seems to have any advise when asked

Soak in Epsom salt bath in the tub. Use the roller before and after exertion, be it running, gym workout or sports. Only apply pressure on the upward pass in the direction of venous blood flow, which is toward the heart.

Dominic of course. It is the only way I can. But don’t you think that it would be an improvement if the «chapter headlines» that appeared once every minute was toned down or removed in future videos? Don’t get me wrong, this was a good and useful video, I just found that aspect of it unneccesarry for such a short segment. Furthermore it sounded that the tune of it all was cut too abruptly and sounded slightly amateurish. That being said, I may be wrong or way off base. But I wanted to convey a bit of constructive critisism. Or at least I tried to. 😎
