@@WatchWesWorkI bet running this vehicle on ether and dirty diesel was great for that pump. As they say, "when there isn't enough fuel flowing through a pump, just spray some ether in the intake and run the pump while it's dry or pumping water condensation through it.... in lieu of clean diesel" 😂😂😂 Maybe it woulda failed either way, but you didnt help yourself out by running that on ether... And you even had the bobcat on site.

Wes: You may appreciate this short story. Many years ago I needed to rebuild my old 8N. After new bearings, main and rod, I decided to treat the new parts. I dumped in a can of STP(all the rage at the time), new oil and fired it up. Started great but it began to slow. Before I could shut it off, it seized. I'm sure you know what happened. Old Ford 8N's oil pumps being what they were did not have the muscle to pump pure STP(does anything have that much muscle). When I dropped the pan I discovered a glop of STP surrounding the oil pump. So much for my mechanical ability. I did fix it and it ran great but what an experience. DB

Brilliant Wes and well done a lot of people would run a mile nowadays if you mentioned a leaking injection pump but the older ones like the CAV ones are not to bad at all to work on. Massey Ferguson in all its forms and designs are my favourite brand of tractor over here in the UK especially the older stuff. My Grandad used to work in a machine shop making gearbox parts and my Dad was a farmer I have very fond memories as a small child in the late 60s early 70s coming home from school getting changed and meeting my Dad and sitting on the tool box of his TE20 while he was ploughing etc. - happy days. Then there was the 35 working up to the 165. That actually had a cab !!! Our neighbours had the same model backhoe that you are working on and I guess I was around 15 when he used to let me have a go in it when he was cleaning ditches etc. Great content Wes and keep those videos coming 👍👍👍
@KStewart-th4sk
@KStewart-th4sk 10 ай бұрын
My Dad also had a Ferguson TE20. Bought it at an auction sale, i believe it was supposed to have been overhauled. I was the one driving it home, started missing, and.....towed it home. Turned out it had dropped a valve. It seems to me the guy that fixed it had a problem locating a piston for it and ended up going oversize on all 4. It had a lot of power for a small tractor. I remember it being very picky setting the points on it. A thou out and it would miss badly and i never ran across that before or since. We had John Deere 2-cyls. and a neighbor had Internationals so i would go there once in a while to file points or change points, etc. Back then, if you could get away with filing, that's what was done.

Very good Wes, I just finished working on a CAV pump on a IH B414 tractor that had been setting 10 years. The pump had water in it. The vanes in the transfer pump were broken and the rotor ring was shot. That was just the start of problems. What a mess. But I learned a lot about CAV's

The gift that keeps on giving. CAV pumps are everywhere here in the U.K. nice to see yours chose to play nicely. The in-line ones seem to be less problematic though I’m guessing the whole machine has not led a sheltered life which doesn’t help. I’m sat here now wondering when we are going to get some Goldwing content as that seems to have sat in your shop forever.
