Wow, what a great comment. I am so glad I was able to help out and I will be making more videos. Did you see the one where I changed the clutch in my tractor? That was a real job, I would love to hear what you think. I also did a pretty good one on how to get it unstuck by yourself, I hope you will look it up. Thanks for watching.

Awesome video! I also have a MF255 and the steering pump is empty and probably I will need to change the filter. What type/kind of fluid do you use for your pump? Thank you!

I think I just put regular car power steering fluid, but it has been a while. Maybe google it first. thanks for watching.(Quick google search advised: Use type A suffix A power steering fluid, or use Dextron II Trans fluid)

I would check it first with the air filter, if no change, might change the fuel filter next. If no improvement, I would try it with no muffler... trying cheap experimental stuff first. If still no change could be the injectors or fuel distributor... Good luck and let me know what happens. thanks for watching.

This is great. Ran across this while trying to find how to replace my power steering pump. I have a 1978 245 and you have inspired me to do a little fixing on it, maybe some painting. I love this tractor. I have had to stop it with the choke lever for years, would like to use a key. Would you know the name of the part on the tractor I might be looking to replace since you are familiar with the 245's.

great video, brings back a lot of memories, grew up driving a Massey 35. Do your self a favor though any time when your working on the fuel system use gloves, because there is such a high content of water mixed in Diesel fuel it contains a high level of micro-organisms..... not good for your health..... go to any truck stop all the attendants use gloves because its SOP.....

@chud327
@chud327 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it could use some paint all over. Maybe I will do a piece here and there. I have thought about taking the hood and fenders to a body shop and then ordering new decals, but I am probably too cheap. Then you would have to worry about scratches. Either way, by the time I finish, it will be time to start over. Thanks for watching.

Nah, I'd just paint it with a few rattlecans, that way if it scratches no big deal. You and your daughter are very artistic maybe one of you could just paint the name on. I guess the main thing is that it works. Thanks for making the kool videos.

I am not sure, I guess it could be a stopped up exhaust, a pinched fuel line, a bad injector, stopped up air filter, etc. There are a bunch of possibilities, but it is hard to guess with out being with the tractor. I hope you can figure it out and thanks for watching.

Is your 245 a diesel, shouldn't have a distributor... Wait, do you mean fuel injections distributor? I did it in this video, but I am guess that was not enough to help you. I bet there is a manual online that shows how it goes together. I will take a quick look and see if I can find one. BTW, thanks for watching.

I didn't know that 245 came with gas engines. I would think a distributor would be easier that a fuel distributor. At least you will not have diesel all over you hands...

I would guess one of the fingers on the pressure plate had the pin fall out. That is what happened to mine. That is, as long as you pedal and linkage is still working right. You will have to break it in half to find out. If you were local, I could come help... Thanks for watching and good luck.

shivram dhillon well this is what I would do check and make sure engine is free then check the oil and coolant check your air box make sure no rats nest or anything, put you a fresh battery in it check your fuel and give it a start run it for about 10 mins then I would do a oil change and coolant change and air filter change.

that little Perkins diesel is a very good engine to learn on very forgiving and easy to start pretty much no matter what the reverse manufactured models of that Perkins diesel is what they put on the Ford tractors of the same era and they're a little more picky the firing order is even different instead of firing 132 and idling real smooth like yours they fire one two three and have a choppy idle because they're not firing a full 180 degrees opposite the other cylinder I don't want to quote because I'm most likely going to be wrong but it's similar to the way a Harley Davidson fires on the Ford tractors funny how they reverse manufactured the Perkins and change the firing order so that two different brand names could share something with common similarities
