Once filled with life, deserted today...
Building wrecks come in all shapes and sizes, but when a palace falls apart, it tends to attract a greater level of fascination. Today we give you a sense of the past, in the present, as we take you to Spain to a grand abandoned palace. This exalted place dates back to the 1800s and was owned by Mr. Molina. He was the oldest of 10 siblings who had just returned to his village after a long period of emigration in the Philippines. He had married a Filipina there and returned as a widower with two daughters. He, along with three of his other brothers had a textile factory and banking businesses in the Philippines with which they accumulated a great fortune. Back in his hometown, he settled permanently and lived on the income of his business in the Phillippines that continued there in the hands of his brothers. He lived in the palace until the beginning of the 20th century, when he passed away, and the property was inherited by one of his daughters, Manuela. After her death, a Spanish master architect went back to reform the palace again. This time it was divided into two houses, one for each of his two daughters.
What then happened to the building and why it was abandoned, we can not figure out during our research. We assume it's a combination of high inheritance taxes and prohibitive maintenance and renovation costs for the upkeep of this dignified building.
Today we will try to decipher the stories within its forgotten walls, as we venture our way inside and discover what's left behind.

Hello. The rooms downstairs were for house staff. The inside balcony is named galería we used To play in it drink coffee and have the merienda. The Shields are fake just to play or to be used in processions. All the gold and valuables have been stolen during civil War in 1936.

What an amazing huge palace. This home is simply marvelous. And please do not EVER apologize for making your videos to long. Way to many explorers hurry through their videos just to rush and get on to the next ones. Makes the fans wondering what all we didn't see. It is like not receiving the last half of your meal and desert. Left wondering what was left behind and not feeling satisfied. These type of explorers are into quantity of videos, not the quality. I do not give a thumbs up on hurried videos. You guys are certainly at the top of my favorite Explorers. I do not care if your videos are 3 hours long. Just as long as I see everything. 😊 you for actually taking the time to show us everything. I feel full after watching your videos. You guys rock.

I had a player piano that ran on vacuum .they would hook our vacuum cleaner up to it and it played those scrolls of music

The roll of paper is for a PLAYER PIANO and those holes in the paper are mechanically triggering the right keys on the keyboard of the piano. Often electric but in the old days they were mechanically wound up like a music box and it played the roll of paper to play the tunes on the piano.

I have a PIANOLA here at home in England. It was built in 1927, and is in full working order. It has 88 notes and works on vacuum, and you pump the bellows with 2 foot pedals. Great fun, and a good 'workout'. Those old rolls are mostly worthless though.

You took me back to my childhood years and the grand homes of the times...I can see my grandfather carving the wood to repair that broken chair and my grandmother meticulously cleaning every corner of the place...I grew up with my paternal grandparents, because of my traveling parents...Wish I were invited to help in the renovation of this wonderful palace...I would love to repair and re hand paint the walls...I can also blind stitch the textiles...Thanks to my grandparents...Thank you for the short video...😍...I believe the helmets and the shields are part of a family of "Costaleros" or one of the fraternities that put on the "Holy Week" recreations of Christ Crucifixion...An honor indeed...Many blessings to you and yours...🙏😘❤🌹

Wow! Great find! You two are so cute together...never an unkind word. You always seem to cherish what you find. I love the long videos. It’s great when you lead the way through the property and give a good perspective of the layout. I also enjoy when you find something you don’t recognize...like those old piano rolls....makes me feel really old when I know what they are. I nearly choked when I saw how long this video was going to be. But I watched every minute. This was definitely worth the time. I love Spanish influences. I’m from south Louisiana. One of the countries that had possession of us was Spain. There are many French and Spanish influences down here. One of my best friends is a descendant of Spanish Royalty. Great one guys. Maureno made a comment about the length of the video, but I wish they were so much longer. This video could be 12 hours long and I would enjoy every minute of it so much! I wish you can show more details of the paintings and artwork and the unique items original to these homes and castles that will never be seen again after the homes are finally destroyed. Not only are your videos brilliant and enjoyable, they also do the world a great service by helping to archive these places for history before these amazing places completely vanish for all time!

The book from the 1800s is for a tradition where following the death of a person, his or his loved ones and friends gather every evening for 9 days to pray as intercession in the acceptance of the soul into heaven. The page you opened it to was the prayer for day 9. Its called el Novenario .This tradition is still followed in the Mexican community, not sure about in other parts of the world.

All so in a few other groups of people is this part of a death wake and in Jewish tradition, But back in 1800 Everyone had a wake in part, just the way it was, family and friends sat with the body nearby, outside, and talked and cried and remembered the person.

That's what I thought too. It's also why all that "armor" is so poorly made. Those helmets and shields would never survive a battle!

They are stage props for sure. The spear for example is unwieldy and the spearhead wasn't secured to the pole. If you lifted a real piece of armour in those rooms, you'ld need more strenght to pick it up.

That is exactly what I'm thinking and I'm so glad to tell you guys that the passion plays are still being performed here in the Philippines every Lenten season. The spears and shields are worn by persons who depict the Roman empire soldiers that crucified Jesus and the purple robe is worn by the one acting Jesus. So glad to know that they are also doing it in Spain. Love from the Philippines.

The helmets, shields, sandals, robes, crown of thorns, etc. all look like costumes used to put on a passion play about the death of Jesus.

Wow wow wow!! One of my most fave videos in all my years of watching various explorers. I loved the fact you took great care and respect and actually showed us great details. Or at least build a sustainable home in the first place. A lot of these places were built with materials and techniques that were doomed to eventually crumble and then be stupid expensive to fix. So rather than spend the money to fix it, its cheaper and easier to just find a new home.

Not only one servant, but at that time in Spain, to mantain such a big house, they had for sure at least 4 or 5 servants, (a cook, a couple of maids, a coachman and probably a butler/housekeeper and a laundry lady, and probably even a child/teenage servant to play and take care of the kids)

I don't even know where to start!! The palace held so many treasures; the stained glass, the beautifully hand painted trim, the lovely flooring, the wonderful furniture. I wish I could have been there the 8 hours! Actually, it would have to be at least 8 days. Even after 30 years, the beds that were covered with vinyl would probably be good for a few nights. I got so excited for Remon when he found the spear and shield! Just looking at the amount of helmets, shields, the wooden sword I'd say that they participated in a Passion Play ~ a reenactment of the Passion of Christ.. Thank you so much for this "above and beyond" video. I loved it. And I loved that Explomo was able to thoroughly film the palace as it will probably stay as is until it collapses. Sad thing. May you 2021 bring you much happiness, health and wonderful new experiences and lots of abandoned places.

You have to remember that when these places were built, ppl had to travel days to visit and would be invited to stay for awhile so they needed all the extra bedrooms! Also before birth control ppl ended up on average more children than families typically have today! Also the staff needed rooms as well! I love these places you visit & I especially love that you don't take anything or move anything while you are visiting them! The respect & the admiration you have for the history is beyond wonderful! Thank you for sharing your experience!

It is so sad that these homes go to Disrepair. The families probably have no money for upkeep. I am so glad that you guys bring these to us for viewing. I always think how they were years ago. That's a fire panel, backed up by batteries, still have some juice in them; to restore this place you're probably looking at far more than 2/3 million; more like 10 million. The amount of work is far beyond what most people think; complete remodeling of the outside/interior; major structural work; complete reworking of plumbing and electrical. It would not be worth it; people with the money would knock it down and build something completely new.

WE ALL like to look at all the decals in hallways and bedrooms along with kitchens it is so fascinating to see thru your videos it gives me a greater chance to feel what and how they lived back in time . It actually makes my stomach turn at all that will be lost in the world because of neglect. I couldn't walk away without salvaging all that i could. Which is why this isn't my job. Lol id be in jail before i walked away and left that chair under a ceiling that is clearly leaking ,😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

What a grand building!! The paper with the holes is for placing inside the piano to play automatically, so cool to see. Am thoroughly enjoying this!! Many generations lived there... very interesting vlog basically the lower floors ignored for possibly 50 years and upper floor 20 years so she lived basically for 30 tears with her house decaying below her , also i think the last photo of the young girl is possibly the great great grand daughter or niece of the lady in all the other photos .........

Yes, very interesting. On that couple portrait photo it's written 1912 and the latest photo of this lady owner is from 1940's so I guess it's probably one of her children moved on that second floor...

Here I am watching from Philippines. Some of the words in our language are derived from Spanish language, a good example is how we say the numbers. And in my province, which is the Pampanga (2hrs away from Manila), our dialect is "kapampangan" most of our words derived from spanish language. Mainly bec we, Filipinos, were colonized by the Spanish during 15th - 18th century. I just realized that when i watched some spanish movies in Netflix. BTW, Thanks to your videos guys, bec of you I got a chance to travel. LOL. I really adore your videos and watch them everyday. More videos to you guys. Hope someday you get a chance to do some videos here in Philippines,too. Philippines got a lot of old house also that are worth to do some vlogs.

Wonderful tour. It is interesting how the third floor was so intact. I believe people who lived in these places had entertained many guests who might have stayed for many weeks when they came to visit.

You can find the same furniture in some of the old houses in the Philippines even the stairways ! We had 300 years or more of Spanish inquisition, our tradition , culture had been changed

I now know why😊 Wow what an amazing honor to be able to walk through that magnificent, prestine treasure filled will absolute beauty😍💖the memories are still there too. Their antique furniture, the wooden window frames, the high doors and the many artifacts that you came across. Breath taking. Absolutely out of this world😍 As you walked through each room, I would close mine eyes and imagined living in their time. The sounds, the scents, the vibes etc. To be able to afford to buy this treasure and restore it, would be an absolute dream come true to return life within it. This was by far one of the best, sensible and most sensitive exploratory missions I've watch by two fine enthusiastic young men. It is an absolute tragedy for a palace of this magnitude and imense historic significance to fall into such disrepair and rotting ruin. It looks like much has already been looted but the govt should take imediate action to safeguard what is left of the structure and its contents. With an investment of about €3M, the palace can be saved. The importance of the work you guys do with your channel cannot be understated, in highlighting forgotten vestiges of human existence such as this Palace. You guys deserve much more than subcribers and likes for this explorative documentary. Moreno & Remon, trust me, you both deserve a national award!! Much kudos. Well done. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾⚔🏅🏅

I 100% respect your Honest Documentation of your finds, with Respect for the property and contents, regardless of whether or not current owners or "explorers". You risk getting shot here if you are caught in a sweet vacant propert... and not necessarily by the owners... more likely squatters and thieves
