According to my observation, many newbie 2 handed bowlers have an awkward feeling when adopting the 2 handed styles. I wonder if we can have simple steps for anyone to start bowling with 2 hands and quickly enjoy the game? I found it and would love to share with you guys in this video.
00:39 The spine rotation
04:08 The open hips
06:43 Tuck your damn elbow In

Excellent video! I've been slowly teaching myself two-handed bowling for a few years now, and I can confirm having gone through every one of these struggles. Visualizing my arms and the ball as a complete hoop that I had to roll on its edge down the lane (like a coin) helped everything really click into place for me. It's not about my arm strength or even my leg strength. It's about cradling the ball gently, and getting your lower body out of the way so you can literally rock it like you would a baby towards the foul line.

He's basically showing part of what gold coach Slowinski is teaching. Also i must say it should not be called "lateral spine tilt", because it is only front tilt but with open hips. Lateral spine tilt is limited and can be dangerous.
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw Ай бұрын
Yes, definitely! I learnt from Sir Slowinski. This technique can be applied for both 1 and 2 handed style :D But please check out your own physical condition before using it.

@@BowlismOutlaw Yes, but "lateral spine tilt" is not actually lateral". It is still forward, but now the waist has changed position and opened up, and the foot acts as couter balance.
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw Ай бұрын
Actually you are right. If we put the body on a 2D plane, we can call it the lateral spine tilt. But here, the hips have opened, we can hardly call it lateral spine tilt. The best way to understand this position is to put the whole body in a 3D demonstration environment.

3:00 you just described my exact problem. I love the way you break things down very specifically and analytically. That is the way that I think and using broad language like so many tip videos do is the reason why I end up feeling more confused than taught or helped.

You explain things so well. Thanks for the vid. I go back and fourth between 2 handed and 1 handed, both with no thumb. Do have any tips or would you change any advice in this video if you were speaking about 1 hand no thumb technique? Or should i just keep practicing 2 hands all the way through. I feel like 1 hand no thumb is the form that is hardest to be consistent shot to shot.
@BowlismOutlaw
@BowlismOutlaw 10 ай бұрын
Thank you for dropping by bro! Oh you are playing 1 hand no thumb style. Interesting bro. 1 hand without thumb requires physical strength to hold the ball. I'm not against this style but would love to know why you like 1 hand no thumb style? or is it just what you simply like? Secondly, If you can handle 1 hand no thumb style, I recommend you use lighter ball to practice first. I feel like 1 hand no thumb is the form that is hardest to be consistent shot to shot. => Yes, it is because you don't have help from the non bowling arm :D In 1 handed traditional style, you have help from the thumb to prevent the ball fall out of your hand too soon. I have a very cool video to imspire you hehe instagram.com/p/CwO38edJHk3/

@BowlismOutlaw I have had zero success with thumb in. I have a ball fitted to me, but the back of my had starts hurting just after game one. I found taking my thumb out helped and I could bowl 10-15 games and not feel any sort of discomfort, plus my scores consistently went up after initially taking my thumb out. My PSO says I'm weird because at the beginning of my form I look like I'm going to bowl 2 handed but I take my support hand off half way into my back swing. When I try and do 2 hands all the way through, I lose a bunch of speed and it feels not as fluent and smooth on the back swing or release as one hand no thumb. Bowling in this manner though, I have taken my 180-190 average from 4 years ago and brought it up to like 200-210 ( only on a house shot though.) I didn't do much bowling the last 3 years but just got back in in January this year and am really trying to still learn what works best. I know thumb in just ain't for me but I can't seem to land on 2 hands all the way through or my current MO.

I have nearly the same issue like you. I bowled 1 handed for 10 years with certain success in league and tournaments. In exchange, my thumb swells so bad and I stuck in the realm of a low rev stroker. I switched to 2 handed for 3 years now, and that’s the best choice ever. To my opinion, if 1 handed no thumb style fits you and you are happy with it, stay with it bro. ✌🏼😎

Any chance i can send you a video that you can scrutinise? I've been bowling 2 handed for 6 months after bowling 1 handed for 20 years. Feel like i get it right occasionally but after watching your vid i realise I'm not opening my hips and i walk to straight. Any tips on how to drift walk to the left correctly ? I see other advantages to this for when the ball return projects a fair way down the approach almost making it impossible to shoot deep inside which 2 handers need to do a lot in house patterns

Oh ok bro, have you watched this video? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n6-ZebV6vayrf6M.html I explained the effect of the body twisting when walking on a straight line based on the lower body anatomy. The drift step lessen the twisting effect and helps you open your hips in a much more natural way. Just watch the above video and then see how you understand this point. I thought bowling backup was fine and just kept doing it but everyone questions me about it and they’re like “ you’re doing it wrong” I also didn’t score very well doing it. @@BowlismOutlaw Still, I am really passionate bowling on the left side obviously as it is an “ advantage” as some people call it on the lanes, as a lefty myself it does make sense why the ball should curve from the left. I would love to hear some tips and guidance on how to curve it from the left side rather then the backup balls I been doing recently
