Honestly, I just wish he was the same from "Birth by Sleep" in 3. His motivations, goals, and intentions seemed much clearer then.

Still not sure why everyone gives this guy the ol "honorable treatment" in KH3 after everything he pulls, no matter if it was for a good cause, he still uses people as pawns and didn't show any regard for life at any moment, except for the very ending

Even if it is a retcon, they could have had one line of dialogue to make it actually work and not in the face of his obviously evil persona in the last games: “I had to motivate others to summon the X-Blade. I had to become the very thing I sought to destroy, play the role of a villain. A seeker of Darkness. The suffering of the few chosen, it was all a necessary evil. And it all worked; I had brought the seven guardians through the bonds of you, Sora. You became the anchor that holds them together. And so...I knew this day would come. My deceptions would pay off and they have. Your friends have helped serve a great debt to the worlds. Now there will be peace.”

While I agree that Xehanort's end-game motivation in 3 was unexpected as well as inconsistent, I very much like the cutscene, if anything I would have had him be shrouded in his heart's Darkness through a thirst for knowledge while Eraqus would remain how he was, blinded by his heart's Light by his arrogance which would only make the Darkness inside of Terra(who would have a hunger for power that Eraqus would try to train him out of and that hunger would go on to be motivation to protect Aqua and Ven) and Xehanort stronger(after all that can be a kind of balance), but I'm not Nomura, I must say that I'm curious to see what's next after an old man who killed his best friend, killed Kairi, and almost killed his own apprentice and almost bring armageddon to the worlds for the sake of the Light

I can't thank you enough for this!! Inconsistent character writing or real-life psychology where it changes? Your choice. Regardless of your opinion of the man, you have to admit that is one scary dude. And kingdom hearts rocks!!

He is actually a Not-so well extremist trope...

Never once in either BBS or DDD, nor through Ansem nor Xemnas did Xehanort ever make the presumption of doing things "for the greater good". If anything, he did what he did for knowledge about the (second) Keyblade War and its results, the whole "balance" thing came out of nowhere (and if anything, he favored DARKNESS...oy). To me, the first point where he "lost sight" was when he admitted he went wrong with splitting (and trying to re-merge) Ventus and Vanitas, but he just took it from there and went straight for the Keyblade War after that, so...no real change in goal there, either way, he'd get to Kingdom Hearts no matter what the cost. And the other point? Where he suddenly shifted gears in goals from "study the Keyblade War's effects from the side of darkness and see if mortals are worthy of Kingdom Hearts" to "purify the world so that there's a balance between light and dark". Seriously, Nomura, we can accept the fact that Xehanort's a guy full of purely dark intent (starting a war just to see what would happen after...), not every villain needs to be too complex beyond that. RIP Leonard Nimoy, Rutger Hauer was...acceptable, but nothing can top Nimoy, maybe if it was HIM delivering the dialogue (and/or if the writing team behind KH3 was better), I would've bought it. Does Nomura plan these things out, or write at the seat of his pants? XD Joking aside, nice compilation, EmptyMan.

After everything Xehanort did, I saw how he killed Kairi, that's pure evil. Xehanort should not deserve forgiveness, I could see his smile of satisfaction after killing Kairi, so you think he would have been so considerate of Sora?

I really do prefer how Master Xehanort is portrayed in BBS and DDD than how he is KH3 onwards because he makes for a much more interesting villain as essentially a madman obsessed with Darkness who wants the infinite power and knowledge of Kingdom Hearts at any cost instead of the misguided savior that KH3 makes him out to be. Like, it is never once shown or hinted that Xehanort was doing anything he’s done for anyone other than himself. I also have to again give to the late Leonard Nimoy for his godtier performance as the character in those two games.
