He’s the kind of guy people prejudge to their detriment. He’s not overly charismatic, laughing, joking… smiling. Therefore, he must be a stiff or a jerk. Nope. I’d love to know him, work for him, or be a friend. Listen to how he speaks about Kieran and Julianne. He’s so complimentary, supportive and is the type of guy who makes others shine. Oh yeah, he’s also incredibly talented. Love this personality and I’m a fan.

He has great ideas, but the way he articulates them makes me think that he has ready answers for all the typical 30 questions that people constantly think about, and he never challenges these. I suspect that most of the Hollywood has the same answers. I believe this tendency is a deep dark hole for American and global society. Ppl with Jesse's influence could contribute so much more than just "ideas of walls", don't you think? They could focus on *technologies*, which encompass scientific progress and communication by the word's definition. Who is perpetuating this narrow mindset that seems to dominate the world's creative landscape?

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Thank you for sharing this point!

This is a really empowering message. I've read before that imposter syndrome can enhance performance. I think that's especially true if you can accept the anxiety as part of the process, as the thing that keeps you focused and gives you the energy to make things better. Anxiety is after all a state of energy in the body and the mind has some, or even a lot of power to create a narrative on what that energy is for.

I have GAD and this is fascinating! So it really is a superpower in that because I have thought of every scenario, I am VERY prepared at work and I'm able to keep others on task. I can't speak for him, but the points in which Jesse seems disoriented or realizes he may be off task remind me of GAD brain I get. Since some areas of the brain are overactive and sympathetic nervous system activation means blood increases to organs and executive functioning is decreased, it can mess with memory. That's really in more severe moments or "flare ups." There's also an interesting scenario where memories can be recorded in a different version of reality - more hostile if you may be in a state of anxiety. It's good to have a trusted colleague to check in with to see if you'd committed a more hostile version of reality to memory than what actually happened. Learning about anxiety and how it affects the brain/body is very freeing to take off some of the blame of some symptoms that cannot be helped. Creativity is AMAZING for those with GAD because expression feels like a release of pent up energy. And I do think those with an anxiety disorder often have more empathy which, in the right workplace, can mean MUCH better leadership. The candid-ness I see in Jesse also is something I experience and it works to my advantage when people see me as a non-judgmental person who will not get upset with them if they tell me what's going on with them. Anxiety disorders were often born out of a necessary reason to cope. They CAN serve us well, but control and knowing how it personally affects you is important. Jesse really seems to have an understanding of his own circumstance and that's the best place to be at!

I wonder how this interview came to be. It is deeply refreshing to have someone in a leadership role explain how his self-doubt is his strength. His humility leaves space for others to flourish, which is something you rarely see advocated for "succesful leaders". People like Jesse usually feel like they hardly have an interesting story to tell and most media platforms thrive on sensational storytellers, so I'd love to know what led to this production.

The way Jesse got nervous and speaked really fast made me realise, that he has gone through lots of stuff , has a big knowledge in terms with people and work and carrier and that he is a wonderful person. I’m new in a high leadership position managing artists while having generalized anxiety. This talk was so relevant to what I’ve been dealing with recently. I’m trying to get the best out of my team while feeling intimidated by anyone I feel who are more skilled than I am. I keep asking myself “why would they listen to me when they’re much more skilled?” Thinking about what I would want out of a leader instead is a good way to reframe my thinking.

A profound mind is one that comprehends its inherent vulnerabilities and setbacks, acknowledging them with a keen awareness. Such intellectual prowess manifests not only in the ability to articulate these shortcomings adeptly but, more significantly, in the mastery of leveraging them to one's advantage through strategic control.

I've always struggled with myself being too quiet or not shining under the spotlight enough when in a crowd, to the point where I thought I'd be a bad leader compared to others. However when I think about the leaders I admire, I can recognize parts of them that resonate with me. Will try to use my anxiety to fuel my creativity and drive, rather than drag me into the overworrying-slumps. Great talk!

While I think there is definitely something to reframing your anxieties productively, I've found one of the best motivators to be deep love and passion. Anxieties can wane and diminish when you get better at your work, but love is consistent. To renew lost anxieties, artists push themselves to new heights to feel scared \again, while loving the art you produce naturally demands the best you can bring at every stage.
@djl3009
@djl3009 3 ай бұрын
Interesting. I wonder if deep love and passion is more accurately describe as inspiration rather than motivation. Motivation does seem to fit best within the context of anxiety, lack of purpose and may be even depression. On the other hand, inspiration does seem to be a better fit to passion and love. I sometimes wonder if it is intrinsically human to motivate ourselves and others? I also wonder if inspiration implies a touch of the divine in it? Inspiration = in spirit?

I don't like anxiety. Even though I'm thankful for his message, listening to him brought anxiety. Living in a state of anxiety does not seem healthy to me. In fact, the other side of the coin here is that anxiety covers a lack of confidence and, to some degree, a lack of self esteem. His stories can all be reframed in the angle of confidence (or lack thereof). I really think you must balance anxiety with confidence and vice versa so you find an equilibrium where you strive and where you are happy. His learning experience of his new leadership position reflects just that.

@@TarzanHedgepeth but we don’t talk about panic, right? I am just tired of these people who try to keep thinking positively encouraging ignorance. Because of these people there are problems often. Because of these people, we are so close to the third world war. Ignorance and stupidity destroys everything. Instead of this confidence and ignorance, it’s better to be anxious, but to be stoic also understanding and being ready to solve all the problems. I’m starting to understand that my anxiety is actually indicating something to me: it shows me that something needs to be addressed, or something should make me anxious because it’s wrong, or it generally increases my due diligence about important things or topics. There are also times I understand that my anxiety is something that I just have to look inside and to God about to do the inner work and even talk to someone to heal a previous trauma wound or fear. All in all - this video is helping me unlock the potential of my anxiety and seeing it as a transformative point of strength so thank you! I would love to meet you or interview you some how. Though he found a way to make a positive out of the negative, all that negativity is still there and you cant fix it and get to a more content place in life untill you learn about it, descover all the facets of life it has made difficult for you, and treat it. Jesse is one of those relatively rare men who understands what it is to be human, understands what humans require to thrive, and he has clearly engaged in the relatively rare self-reflection among men that leads to understanding what it truly means to be an adult man. "Real men" seem to be largely defined by this male-dominated society as being somewhat inhuman, the typical workplace conditions being only one area where this is evidenced.
