Mixing complementary colors can help you achieve a whole range of neutral and desaturated colors that can be a joy to paint with. Learn which colors are your primary and secondary colors and which are complementary to each other.
Complementary colors are a combination of a primary and a secondary color.

Is magneta a primary colour?

In short, yes (and no) It is considered a modern primary color. I know it can be confusing when thinking of the traditional color wheel where red, blue and yellow are primaries. Magenta is a more modern and when you use it in place of red in painting, you will be able to achieve a wider range of vibrant secondary and tertiary colors. I hope that helps.
