Your tutorials on the different Neo tools have taught me what the different tools can do. But then, a tutorial like this one from start to finish helps ties everything together. Extremely useful. So I encourage you to continue to produce a series of these Master Classes on using Neo beginning to end.

Your objective schooling using the Curves panel over the 'Whites and Blacks' slider is genius. I hadn't really considered that TBH. Your summary explanation made perfect sense about stretching the color palette. Additionally, as polite as I can say this, I used to watch no one else other than Serge Ramelli's series on YT but he's lost the touch, rushes too much on new software version or add-on introductions, little patience in speak (like he once had) and rarely uses Luminar Neo, over LR and PS. He's an excellent photographer and once, was a great YTube'er for edits. However, your specific educational construct and delivery of instruction, ESPECIALLY using Luminar Neo is a closed case for me because, I use Neo strictly now. Thank you for the in depth, no nonsense Tuts using this software. Keep it up!!

The one on the left but without the cloud in the middle. And yes, of course the longer videos are better. In these you not only explain the function of individual sliders but also why you use them and that makes the "extended versions" so interesting and important. Thank you for that!

I usually limit myself watching 20min or less videos. But knowing your well designed tutorials and awesome commentary, I had to set aside quality time to watch this one. The benefit here is the large scheme of things rather than isolated edits and I really relish the overall process. Thank you so much for sharing.

Great to hear. I've been trying so hard of late to condense my content, and often I feel I'm cutting out valuable info just to get closer to youtube's recommended "ideal" video length. It's good to see people enjoy the longer format. Gives me confidence to produce more like this.

I like both edits on the photo, and they both convey different moods. The edit on the left is warmer and has an early autumn feel to it. The one on the right feels colder and a bit more harsh and rugged, like it should be in a truck commercial or a spaghetti western. But they're both great looking. I do agree that removing that little cloud in the top center of the picture is a good move though. The large cloud formations are smoother, adding just enough to break up the blue of the sky, while that smaller cloud seems more turbulent which is more distracting. These editing videos are nice as they leave out the extensions, to which I'm sure a lot of people don't have access. The extensions can be nice, but videos like this really showcase how powerful Neo can be on its own. And I don't mind the length of the video. In fact, I prefer them. It doesn't feel like you're rushing through the material, and you're showing how each tool works, and why you might choose one tool over another to achieve similar effects.

I'm just starting out in the world of photography with my Canon T7 rebel. I took a bunch of landscape shots of the fall in the Hudson valley in New York state and I edited them with the windows editing tool. I was excited to see what this simple editing tool had created. Then I came upon your videos and saw just how much more can be accomplished with professional editing software. I want to thank you for putting out all this great content about photography and taking the time to walk us through Luminar AI and NEO. I'm looking forward to learning more about photography and now through a lens I get to see the beauty in the world around us in a whole different way. Its going to be a fun adventure to be sure!!

Either in terms of the edit, although the second is more attractive. In terms of Neo, this is what attracted me to Skylum originally, I miss Lightroom and Neo certainly appealed to me for such edits. I am and always will be an Affinity Photo user, 90% of my work is done with AP as I rarely wander out these days. However, the other 10% allows me this finesse. I like all your tutorials, but these using the basics are fantastic as it offers a full overview of Luminar Neo and the power harnessed within it, so for me, more, please.

have you upgraded to the V2 of AP? I used AP for a long time and updated but when V2 became another subscription I decided to basically stick with my original but updated (not upgraded) version of NEO but mostly use my preferred image editor PhotoScape X (Pro but free will be just as good as the additional items are not critical for use).

if I recall correctly, you have done this edit once before in another video. I like the small cloud but toning it down might do the trick so that they does not go there immediately but it becomes part of a secondary area of enjoyment. Wish there was someway to have a transcript of the text as there are so many items to learn it can be difficult to remember when sometime doing an edit that might be assisted from the use of tips enclosed in this great tutorial.

I really enjoy getting deep inside your thought process in these detailed edits, Anthony! I played the video at 1.25X speed, so that I could complete it within my lunch time. 😄 It is important to step away, as you can easily go overboard with Luminar's tools. One thing I've noticed is that if I'm not careful to click the eyeball icon for "before/after", I end up "baking in" the change by accident (rather annoying). As for your edits, I prefer the left--the one you completed in the video.

it would be interesting to see creators use the single image HDR option in NEO before doing an edit using the various tools and then compare it with the tool usage result and whether the result between the two is different enough to spend the time on the non HDR or is the HDR an opportunity to have a look at where one can go using either the start from the beginning option or adjusting the HDR to taste.

Thanks for the comment. Great word that, shill, but you're off the mark. Just because I've put together a tutorial with the hopes of sharing some tips on editing, I'm curious as to why you'd assume it's a promotional piece? Seems an odd conclusion to make. Anyway, just for clarification, I've done a couple of Luminar sponsored vids during my 5 or so years on youtube and well over a hundred tutorials, each one has been marked as "includes paid promotion" which is visible to all who watch the vid and required as part of the contract with youtube. @@AnthonyTurnham Details gives better control over small, medium, and large sharpening, whereas Develop just says Sharpness, so how does it know where you want to focus your sharpening on? Or, is that the idea - when you want to control a specific level of sharpening, you use Details?
@AnthonyTurnham
@AnthonyTurnham 10 ай бұрын
@@don7117 Sharpness woks on a very tight radius around the edges of pixel contrast whereas the details progressively step up the radius of contrast. So the details tool is great for crunchy, gritty effects but sharpness is better for working with tighter edge fidelity.
