As my now deceased best friend use to always say: “we can argue all day long about the 2nd greatest band, and that’s all good. But there ain’t no arguing about the greatest. It’s Led Zeppelin. That’s it. Discussion’s over.” 😂 We spent hours, and hours, and hours, and hours listening to LZ together. For years. Miss you Wyatt C.

You still haven't heard the pinnacle Led Zeppelin blues song, which is a true masterpiece. The song is called "Since I've Been Loving You". Yes somebody bamboozled you into listen to a live version, as they have done with so many other reactors, but the true genius, the true masterpiece that is displayed by Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and Jimmy Page (not only as guitarist but as producer), manifests itself in this studio recording. You truly need to revisit this song, because the studio recording of "Since I've Been Loving You" will open your eyes to the true power, majesty and magic that was Led Zeppelin. Peace
@user-pf7jm9go6o
@user-pf7jm9go6o 5 ай бұрын
Couldn't agree with you more. All of the reactors choose the live MSG version, which has its merits, but nothing compared to the majesty of the studio version. The guitar solo in the studio version is one of the greatest, most emotional solos ever performed, and it was done in a single take. I think it easily compares to Comfortably Numb for emotionality. Generally speaking, I think all songs should be listened/reacted to in the album version first, since this was the band's artistic creation that they wanted to present to the audience. Concert tours are usually in support of albums, to enhance sales, and although some are quite excellent, their spontaneous nature usually reduces the quality somewhat.

Jordan did a reaction to the MSG performance of "Since..." in the early (pre-Amber) days. Although LZ3 is probably my favourite album, and "Since..." unquestionably my favourite studio track, I prefer the live version simply for the performance element.

@@user-pf7jm9go6o, So perfectly stated! The only thing I would add is that many times live recordings on these classics were marginal at best and they may have performed, like 14 out of 15 days straight, and the lead singers voice was subpar at best. ALWAYS START WITH STUDIO VERSIONS FIRST!!

Yep. MSG was such a garbage show as far as zeppelin is concerned. If you want perfect zeppelin live, it has to be pre 1972 before plants voice went out and everything got over-bloated and long

I love the reaction . When Led Zeppelin released their first 2 albums a lot of their songs were based on blues songs . Most of the groups coming out of Britain at that time had a lot of American blues influence . I can remember being a kid at the time and my Mom rockin' out to Communication Breakdown in her Chevy Nova . Try listening to Led Zeppelin's The Lemon Song off their 2nd album , very bluesy and I think you guys would love it !

Robert was 20 years old on this. Crazy good. He has said he was only there to watch the great musicians in Zep play and he was only adding a bit here and there for added color. For as much charisma he had he was equally humble. My favorite band since 1976.

Amber, one thing you might have been noticing about his drum part there was especially near the end of the song, he started doing these triplet and even sometimes quadruple hit rhythms on the kick drum. Even by this first album, he was that talented and it just sounded so good. I've never viewed this as a hidden gem for some reason, I guess we heard those albums so much including this first album, that it was just one of the huge songs on it.

Blues, acoustic, mellow vibe (Ten Years Gone), flat out rock & roll, reggae style, and Caribbean style (Fool in the Rain), and others that are hard to classify (No Quarter, Ramble On, etc). Please listen to "The Rain Song"! Talk about throwing you a curveball! I guarantee you'll be caught of guard and pleasantly surprised. Pretty Please!!!

They played on Monday here at the San Diego Sports Arena. I'm known as the screamer. During, Whole Lotta Love, I was still screaming when the music kicked back in. A few songs later Plant announced they had nothing going on that week so on Thursday we will do another concert. There are a lot of people outside that didn't get in so, pick up a ticket before you leave. On Thursday, there I was screaming but when Plant finished I was still screaming. He said to bring me to him. I was lifting and carried to the stage. When I finally stopped, the band kicked in. Security wanted to get me out of there but Plant told them, he's with us tonight, leave him alone. We played off each other the rest of the night. One of my favorite concerts, glad you found another jewel ❤️

Great reaction to a great performance. Led Zeppelin recorded their first album before they even had a deal with a Record Label. Jimmy and their manager, Peter Grant, paid for it out of their own pockets. It only took them 36 hours to record the album over several sessions. Led Zeppelin had been playing the songs as part of the concert series to make up for the Yardbirds bookings left over when the Yardbirds broke up. Prior to joining the Yardbirds, Jimmy Page was a session guitar player and a record producer, so he brought that experience to the recording of that first record. At the time of the recording, Jimmy was still using the Telecaster guitar that Jeff Beck gave him while they were in the Yardbirds together. The mind blower is the guitar amp that Jimmy used. In most of the live performances you see of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy often has tall stacks of amplification (Marshalls / Orange etc). For the first few albums, Jimmy used a small, 25 Watt, Supro amp with a single 12" speaker. Jimmy knew exactly how to use microphones to capture the tone and volume that he wanted on the record. Jimmy also used that amp for the "Stairway To Heaven" solo. Keep On Rockin' 🤘🎸😎

There's no such thing as a 'hidden gem' for Zep, anymore than there is for the Beatles. Pretty much every song is a classic and every word and note analyzed from here to hell and back. If you grew up in the 70's there's probably not any song you could play from Zep that we wouldn't recognize after one bar and usually one note lol

New Year's Eve 1969, taking my date home, heard Led Zeppelin for the first time. Whole Lotta Love. WOW. I've been a huge fan ever since.

I really appreciate the fact that these two youtubers are introducing younger people to great music which many young people would otherwise never know. Led Zeppelin, a group of young English rockers who loved African American blues music; some would say STOLE the songs and made them their own. But anyway you look at them, they were into ROOTS music, be it Delta blues or Chicago electric blues, and then blended that with English folk influences to create something we will never see happen again in current modern popular music. To fall in love with a great Led Zeppelin blues song will inspire some to go back and learn about Howlin; Wolf, Willie Dixon, Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Memphis Minnie, Lead Belly, Sonny Boy Williamson----all those great Black American musicians who without them there would NEVER have been Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Cream, The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, or even the Beatles.

I think Led Zeppelin does the blue to perfection, better then any other band. Each of them are the GOAT of their craft, & together they are the GODS of ROCK & BLUES. I suggest you listen to all their songs, everything is great, it will be harder to pick a favorite then to not be crazy about a couple. None are terrible, just maybe not high on your list.

When Jimi Hendrix met John Bonham, he famously gave him one of the grooviest compliments imaginable: "Boy, you got a right foot like a rabbit." 👍

I can't hear this without continuing on with the bass intro of the next song How Many more Times. That's why I love listening to full albums in order

Lets not forget that Jimmy produced all the albums. When he was a very sought after session player he said that the drums always sounded like they were in a can, Jimmy brought the drums more into the mix.

EVERY single song on their first four albums is a masterpiece. Literally every song, no exaggeration. And IMO, every single song except one on their fifth album is too. Literally, IMO, 1 song in 5 albums that isn't a top notch classic hit in quality. You have hidden gems merely because executives and radio stations were overwhelmed with amazing songs and they didn't feel like they could promote them all.

Hidden gem that the band couldn't release as a single placed on their first album. Y'all need to react to the whole album, you would certainly get more subscribers that way. 😊😊😊😊Great reactions!!!😊😊😊
