Yanni is one of the best contemporary classical music composer of our time. He is a genius....no joke. Everything he composes is pure magic. And the best of it is that he gathered the best musicians of the world to play his music and shine. Whatever you listen from Yanni will blow your mind.

Not only that .... he doesn't read music. He employs translators so that the musicians can understand what they are to do. It would be one HUGE mistake to change that now. The artists flow throughout the entire orchestra and vocals.

You need to check out songs from that concert "Dance with a stranger" "Deliverance" "Waltz in 7/8" some great ones as well as his groundbreaking 1986 album "Keys to Imagination" with "Santorini" "Looking glass" In his early days in America he had a rock band in college and i'm sure was influenced the classic and progressive rock of the 70's

I have been listening to Yianni since 1988 and it just never ages. It is like a vintage wine; the older it gets, the better. It is like breathing in fresh oxygen, high up on a mountain plateau. He is the contemporary Motzart. Try reacting to Dancing with a stranger; ( not the one in London though) the trumpeteer with glasses. Brilliant!

Been a fan of Yanni for a long time. In fact, his concerts were always playing in our household... so much so, my daughter at the age of three began singing Vann Johnson's part (may she forever rest in peace). She's an opera singer today because of Yanni's inspiration. Even though this video doesn't get as much views as your others, I encourage you to keep widening your music horizons. You are the first channel I've seen react to Yanni and I thank you.

The melody begins with an Armenian instrument called Duduk, an apricot-made wind instrument is an ancient Armenian double-reed woodwind instrument made of apricot wood. Yanni mentions it in one of his performances. The sound is sorrowful and heartwarming, and it is said to be the sound of remembrance of 1.5 million killed Armenians in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. The instrument was featured in the theme song of the movie Gladiator and gained recognition worldwide. Also, UNESCO proclaimed the Armenian duduk and its music as a "Masterpiece of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity" in 2005. Many haunting and beautiful melodies are addicting due to the sound of the duduk; I'd like to recommend "Hol Ara Yéze (Call of the Earth)" by Levon Minassian "Im ayrogh veuchtitz" Levon Minassian "Armenian Romances" - 03 by Djivan Gasparyan & Ensemble (Armenian Fantasies)

This Yanni concert, recorded for TV and on DVD/CD (dating myself LOL) combined two groundbreaking concerts he did back in the 90s called T4ribute. He was the first Western performer (he's Greek) to have a concert at the Taj Mahal and at the Forbidden City in China. Each song tended to combine footage from each show. Yanni's style (he's the man at the piano in white) is described as New Age or World Music.

I want to add that - musicians - composers - painters - sculptors - actors - etc. - can appreciate the works of others in the same field / medium to greater depth than we can. I studied violin for years and occasionally mix music to this day, so that helps. Still, artistic appreciation is a gift one achieves from exploration. Creation / creativity is a gift from the origins of creation, or Creator-God, and cooperating with others successfully is like devine fellowship, capable of near-miracles, amazement, captivation, when shared with, and experienced by, others. Here's the challenge: Create or develop something worthy of sharing today, and every day, and the world will be a better place with more meaningful experiences, collaborations, and purpose.

I prefer a Yanni concert over Celine Dion or Justin Bieber about any day. Because, yes, psychedelic, and the uniqueness and precision of the music invites us reconsider life itself. Yes it’s possible to have a spiritual awakening as repeated lyrics, “Love is all,” enter consciousness and connect to some deeper aspects of being and awareness that we ordinarily ignore or don’t have time for. Unlike the hyper-repetitive marketing formula of pop any-genre music, Yanni breaks all the rules, yes, as a Mozart or Beethoven of our time, and one who is therefore much more relevant and democratized than “classical” aka “king music,” a world apart. This is world music. And these musicians are not on pop radio, and you won’t see them at a grocery store, either. They sacrifice family time, and live nomadic lives to enrich ours. Some things in life are not given nor guaranteed in capitalistic society; we must seek greater experiences, higher purpose, and larger reality.

You know, they have no vocals, but some of the most impressive melodies, with Violin duels, violin vs Sax, violin vs chello, violin vs guitar, are songs this dude made, they are insurmountably astonishing, "The storm"(Sax and Violin), "The rain must fall"(The most impressive bass and violin I have ever seen, Mary Simpson is incredible, and that song is the reason I decided to start with violin), "Within attraction" an impressive duel between Samvel Yervinian(IMO one of the best violinists alive) and Ann Marie(Mary's sister), "For all seasons" a duel of everything against everything really, "Playtime" (soprano sax vs violin), if this song left you like that, these ones will leave you the same(Or if you are a music lover with a trained ear, even more so)

I know that there are many famous people that I don't have a clue about. This is perfect example of the generation gap, and cultural gap that is happening in America. Vann Johnson went home on 9/27/2017, Yanni is still in his home in Manalapan, Florida. But he hasn't done a tour since covid hit, and many are concerned that he may have retired. I hope he is still working on things, but he has been very, very quiet for the last couple years. I hope he comes back.

Yanni has been around since the 80s and I've been following him since. I chose to listen. Do NOT MISS ANYTHING HE DOES! He composes it all, chooses all of the international performers, does the negotiations, the programming, the whole load. Watch it all. Vann Johnson (the vocalist) has passed away. So has the guitarist. Watch everything .... he is all over the place and you've been (pardon my pun) .. under a rock somewhere.
