@@slip1973a well first off i think hes completely burned out and he has said that he would rather be doing a normal day job than be in the music industry (he could have been joking tho) and it seems like he wants mastodon to go more in a prog rock orientated path rather than prog/sludge metal which i wouldn't mind tbh

When I was maybe 11 or 12 years old my auntie found this CD and knowing I was a fan of heavy she brought it to me and I've been grateful for that ever since. One of the best discoveries ever and Mastodon inspired me to be a musician and free

I can't believe the video ended on the last note of Quintessence. That part gives me chills it's so good. Watching these guys play just reaffirms my love for making and playing music. Thank you Mastodon!

Mastodon was good early one, Leviathan was heavy as hell and a killer album... But crack the Skye is peak Mastodon. Still metal enough, no excess material, the right amount of prog to be compelling but not wanky. Honestly a top 20 metal album of all time, and one of my favorites growing up

Its impressive how time goes by. This guys were so young, and so was I. To listen to this album (top 5 of my favorites albums of all time) it's to remember past days and remember the people that are gone. Everytime a listen I get the same feeling. It's hard to explain. Just... "Spiraling up through the crack in the sky Leaving material world behind I see your face in constellations"
