There’s something magical about hearing a song for the first time. Having my brain completely blank; to be taken on a journey where I am unaware of where I will end up. What an incredible masterpiece this song is. Maybe it’s the weed. Maybe not.

@@trzigweid that's the true sign of a band that actually grows, matures, and explores. As much as I love all of the old stuff going back to Slick Leg, it's killer to watch them grow and evolve. LYRICS: Will there ever be a moment I won't feel this heat coming up from ground? Will there ever be a time when I can show myself through open doors? All I need is you to tell me how to reconcile this guilt and shame I’ve already ripped myself to pieces and I've given it away All the weight lies upon my shoulders from The great disruption It's hard to breathe inside these waves of doubt Tidal distraction Can you tell me how to wish away this chaos making my head spin? Can you tell me how to soothe the savage beast locked up inside these walls? Will there ever be a place that I can hide and heal these open sores? Or do I have to cut them out and eat them as my people adore? All the weight lies upon my shoulders from The great disruption It’s hard to breathe inside these waves of doubt Tidal distraction I have, I have lost my way Reaching, reaching for today I have, I have lost my way Reaching, reaching for today Say when And I'll come running back Say when And I'll come running back Say when And I'll come running back Say when And I'll come running back

@puppetmaster85512 жыл бұрын
Troy only sings the chorus on this. The bridge is brann and then when it’s repeated it’s Brann layered with himself. When they perform it live tho it’s Brann and then Brann and Troy together because brann obviously can’t sing both the high and low parts by himself.

Probably my favorite off this album. Killer verse guitar riff, awesome verse vocals by Brann, solid good ol switch off with Troy for chorus vocals and just when you think it couldn't get better you get a great change with a Dirty B solo and more Brann vocals. That ending just grabbed me and something about it was new but familiar and after several listens it struck me that it is very similar (but not stealing anything) to AIC's Nutshell in chord progression and in so evokes that same visceral emotion for me. Another solid Mastodon album and this is one of the highlights imo that keeps me running back.

Mastodon is one of my favorite bands, period. I really do love all of their albums, with Leviathan and CTS being my absolute favorites. This album is just so massive. I have to admit, upon my first 1-5 trips through it all, it seemed like every song was meandering aimlessly through chaos. The timing and riff changes seemed so abrupt, and unexpected, that every had this unfinished feel. I really didn't feel it from start to end. It was a lot to take in and try to understand. Now, fast forward to about the 20th time through this album, and I admit that this is entirely different level for Mastodon. The arrangements, the hooks and switches have become much more familiar and I now have a sense for where each song is meant to go. It's a thing of beauty. Thank you Mastodon.

This is a standout track from what is easily their best album since AT LEAST Crack The Skye. Still digesting his monster of an album but my expectations have been exceeded.

You can't just throw a Don album on for the first time and give it a quick listen. Just too much to unpack, takes a few listens.

Its crazy how Brann is a genius on percussion which is expected at this point and he still keeps pushing with the vocal melodies

by far the BEST song on the whole album.

Gobblers of dregs is the best imo but this is the 2nd best. The album as a whole is really great so I don’t think there is any song on the album that is by far the best
