Mexico has quite an automotive industry. Many companies have manufacturing in the country. One outfit is trying to build a low-budget, high-power sports car. Find out more.

Is much better if the parts are made in North America and I mean the Engine,or anything else,Mexicans are intelligent,And I see must of the hurtful comments are from people who live in south America, Don't be jealous at least they are doing something good,and not like you who spend your time hating on somebody else's progress.

The Mastretta MXT, first shown at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, uses a Ford 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged to make 250 hp. The company claims a 4.9-second sprint to 60 mph. Great style with an affordable price tag of $65,000

well lets ignore the unhappy hatters, who want something use their knowlogy or they learn to grow in what they want, the car is made by a mexican men and his sons who already have experience building race cars for competitions that means they build this one with the parts that they know that a racing car must to have, this is the frist civilian race model but with time the perfection will come, if you dont like mexico, they dont care, so waste ur time typing until you get artritis

I'm not hating on this car it's beautiful and it's pride for all of us Mexicans. But really look at your comment. No Japanese sports car is made in Mexico which are: Nissan 370z, Subaru Impreza WRX sti, Scion FRS etc... Why well because these are they're bread and butter. Now if you're talking about Toyota: Corolla, Tacoma. Ford American: F-150, Ranger. Then yeah because it's cheaper to pay people down in mexico to assemble the vehicle. This Matretta is still needs more hp but looks good.

Well it certainly has the one quality that has always crushed our supercars. Affordability!!! And yes, the VERY expensive Italian and British thoroughbreds of the 20th century did blow up quite a lot, but even when they did, they did it with so much passion and flair. European supercars are so much more sexy and aristocratic than American supercars. They are just as expensive today but what you get is a technological and exquisite masterpiece. As for the MXT, I just don't see who'd ever buy one.

Alright guys, time to answer some questions with Mexican knowledge. 1.- It uses a ford engine because they're very easy to get in Mexico, we make tons of them. 2.- It doesn't go fast across the border, you'd either need a super powered reinforced chassis SUV to break one of the 2-4 reinforced border walls, OR have no traffic in the border so you could just accelerate to the booth and show your visa.

Interestingly enough does my friends from the US with these cars, share this opinion when they are here and see our cars. But great if you have a nicely built car. Cheers

My biggest concern with the Mastretta MXT is which Ford transaxle is being mated to the Duratec 2.0. If it is the Ford MTX-75, then transaxle durability will be a huge concern. Owners of the old Ford Contour, Mercury Mystique and Mercury Cougar from the late 1990s / early 2000s can testify just how bad this transaxle is if you try to drive it hard without any aftermarket modifications (differentials as strong as "glass" and shifter mechanisms that drop bolts into the case causing destruction).
@LHswe11 жыл бұрын
Also note that the Toyota 86 and cars like it are going to be hard competition, despite the Mastretta being more powerful, it lacks every day usefulness...considering the Mastretta is more expensive too it lack competetive power(60 000 vs 30 000 USD)...hell you'll be able to get a new Jaguar F-Type for Mastretta money. If you had to chose, would you really pick the Mastretta?

Looks interesting. Though the tail lights look like they came of a skyline. The side scoops look like they pulled them off an audi tt. and the rest of the design queues seem to have ebbed from the LFA. Then they drop a 4 cylinder engine in it, which makes sense considering all the mexicans driving little civics and cavaliers. It was probably the only thing they knew how to work on... Having said all that, I love ever bit of this car and would totally love to drive around in one. Great job Mexico
@majalca0311 жыл бұрын
Mexico is the world's 5th largest automobile maker, and they don't just make Corollas and F-150's. Ever heard of BMW and Mercedes Benz? Those companies don't make Corollas. The MXT doesn't need more hp because it is built to compete with cars like the Lotus Elise, which has way less hp.

Don't forget that it is common knowledge that the BMW's and Merc's produced in Mexico are built quite differently than here in the EU, to keep the cars cheaper for the North American market. The Corollas built in Japan and the EU are better built than BMW's and Merc's built in Mexico.

MikeG16 50% of Mexicans are poor..... that means 50% are not poor, and the figure is more like something around 50 million Mexicans are poor, but the population is 120 million which means less than 50% are poor. Plus, Mexico has plenty of millionaires, including a man that for years has won the title of richest man in the world.

I never said anything about plastic, I have no gripe with plastic, nor the car parts made there...I am saying people are prejudiced and saying your car was build in Mexico isn't really what comes to mind when we talk about great engineering...strangely people think Germany which is false since their cars are the the one least reliable, Asian, specifically Japanese and Korean cars are the most reliable.

I Agree with you that I wouldn't buy this car, right now it's too expensive due to the lack of emotional branding other cars have (Porsche, the "Z"s, you name it), on top of not enough R&D, I personally would get a 370Z myself also, I wouldn't say the car is garbage but is just too average for a sports car. I disagree with you however on your comment on Mexican Quality Engineers, there are plenty of and there's enough info on the web about mexican automotive industry. 2¢ from a Mexican Engineer.
