Some pet parents (and their cats) find it easiest to train their cat to come to a specific location and medicate them in that spot. The cat learns that this location is a place where good things happen and are often agreeable to handling in these areas. If the targeted location is movable, like the mat demonstrated here, anywhere can be a positive location to medicate! You can even bring your cat's mat to the veterinarian and place it on the exam table. I've done this! It works! High fiving the vet and getting an exam all with fun and treats. The end of this video also offers a step-by-step pilling tutorial.

No, you don't know me personally. But I am subscribed to your channel and I'wrote you in the past regarding your video about "DIY The Best Litter Box" and you were kind enough to write back to me to try to help me find a large plastic box like the one you used in the video, which "The Container Store" no longer carried. I haven't checked back there lately to see if perhaps they got them in again. But I did use the largest plastic container I could find to for my large, elderly cat, who has since passed. I inherited a cat colony from my cat-hoarding neighbor when he moved out 8 winters ago, abandoning a total of 31 cats, also letting house cats out into the snow. I emptied out my sheds, filling them full of straw and making a number of insulated beds for them, bringing cats into my home who needed medical attention and finding homes for them. I live in a country-like setting. Sadly, some cats died over the years due to predators or illnesses. I am thankful for the ones who found happy homes. It's been like running my own animal shelter by myself, which literally, the expenses, especially the medicals, have made me broke. But I love them all so much and will make any sacrifice necessary to help all these sweet kitties to the best of my ability. I am now down to 6 cats, bringing in the remainder of the cats into my home at the end of this past summer. They are semi-feral, but semi-friendly and adjusting to home life. I've learned a lot of clever tips from you over the years to help make the cats' lives here more interesting and enjoyable. I think you are an amazing person. I had a cat with kidney disease who needed IV fluids for the remainder of her life and I thoroughly enjoyed your video about how you do the IV fluids with your cat. I followed your advice in your video, which created a relaxing environment for my cat, and the treatment became a wonderful bonding time for the 2 of us, rather than something scary. You always make everything look so easy. You are calm, taking good control of every situation and your cats respond very well to your confidence and loving kindness. Thank you for all that you do. I appreciate your videos. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with all of us out here. Forgive me for writing a short novel here. [haha] Thanks for reading it. Take care and God bless. xo

Hi there! Your method of positive reinforcement of feeding pills and liquid oral medicine (sandwich technique) really helped me! I'm so grateful for the detailed way you've shown it. My boy got hurt and needed 13 stitches. He's very difficult with medication but needed to be given antibiotics and painkillers twice a day. After getting growled at, hissed at and scratched on, i desperately turned to any video that will help me. Pill dispenser didn't work, couldn't pry his jaw open and he nearly took my thumb off for placing the syringe with syrup in his mouth. Your method of placing Hill's on rough texture and putting it on top of the pill worked like a charm! He ate it and didn't even realise he did. 😭 You don't know how many pet parents you're helping. I've already started training my second boy so giving medications to him later will be a breeze. THANK YOU!!

I will try this! My cat is deaf. Could I use a hand signal maybe as the click? I'm having to give my cat ear drops and ointments and she very much hates the drops. Maybe because she had polyps removed and went deaf before I had her? I give treats and pets but to no avail.
