UPDATE: just read that the necklace was gift from her second husband and she did indeed wear almost constantly for about 40 years until 1988 when she was mugged in NYC and robbed of the necklace.

H/H match update and preview of the week ahead: ... This is now week 242 of our favorite classic game show (the show ends with week 291 and episode number 1455). These episodes were taped on March 19, 1978, and originally aired in early May of 1978. The weeks are slipping away. There's a new set coming soon. The Star Wheel arrives in 1246, and although I'll be glad to see a greater variety of celebs get to play the head-to-head, I'm also aware that its arrival means the end is drawing near. And then Richard departs in episode 1285, and everything will feel different... So I'm resolved to enjoy these remaining weeks to the fullest, and this one looks promising with another panel full of old friends - Our stalwart regulars are all in their places with bright, shiny faces, and this time they're joined by: ~~~Semi-regular Patti Deutsch drops in for her 37th week (of 42). Her most recent visit was in episodes 1166-1170, and her current H/H matching rate is 50% (1 out of 2 attempts). ~~~Dick Martin returns for his 14th week (of 22 total), having last played in episodes 1171-1175. Dick has appeared on the panel for 65 shows so far, but has yet to be called on to answer his first head-to-head question. ~~~Last but not least, Arlene Francis appears for her sixth and final week. She's a long-time panelist, having joined the family in the second week of the program way back in 1973. This is Arlene's first visit since the week of 951-955. She's been chosen for just one H/H so far, but it didn't result in a match. I'd love to see her close out her Match Game '7x career by becoming the 39th MG celebrity to score a head-to-head match! I'm having a spell right along with Brett! I don't blame her for feeling a bit queasy - she hasn't been called on since episode 1071! That's a long time! (Even so, she's still the second-most called-on H/H celeb, having now been selected two times more than Charles, counting today. Speaking of a long time, it's been ages since Richard has sat out two H/H questions in a row! (Betty played the prior question in 1205.) In fact, I had to go back to episodes 1096 and 1097 to find the most recent time Richard wasn't called on twice in a row - Fannie played those two questions. No hesitation from our champion. "Price." He sounds confident too. The audience definitely approves. I paused the video at 11:04. Brett's expression looks terse. I can't quite tell if she's really upset or just trying to put on a poker face. Something about her lower lip tells me that she did match. Also, I notice Dick Martin's hand tossing his suggestion (which I'm not sure Brett even saw) into the trash. It seems to be facing the camera, but the resolution is too poor for me to read it. Brett is acting (?) like she didn't match. The fact that she's dragging it out means she did match! But she does her fake-out anyway... Yes, she did decide to answer "Price"!
