I just love Trunchbull's dialogue and the delivery of that dialogue: "I shall thrash you; I shall pound you; I shall assign you into the 7th circle of Hell child" XD

I saw differences Stage version: Trunchbull said "This morning, she slithered like a serpent into the kitchen and stole a slice of my private chocolate cake from my tea tray!" Movie Version: Trunchbull said "This morning, a piece of my private chocolate cake was stolen."

9:02-9:14 Trunchbull, you can’t change the rules. Matilda is right when she said that’s not not. Trunchbull will do anything to win, even if that means by changing the rules. You know what that’s called? *CHEATING!!!*

I been trying to find answers to that as well. From what I seen in different videos it either: A: folds under itself since the tray is a bit thicker and you can still see the "top" of the cake B: The cake slices (in this video there is 3) gets pressed down and are held in place by some spring mechanism (again inside the tray) But I am all ears to others opinions or if someone knows for sure how the effect is done!

Its just a contraption like how magician do magic tricks but i didn't find any video explaining hot it works. I guess you can DIY it

He probably pushed it into the desk and the desk at a flexible top(like cardboard) my brother did a maltilda play and the cake was foam in chocolate. He was facing the crowd unlike this one, and he would put his hands in the frosting a push the cake into the little bin as he “ate” it. Tbh, I think he was a better Bruce then the broadway one.

I’m not sure how they did it but how do my school did it was we had a separate table we used for all of the illusions and for this one in particular there was a circle with the four slices of cake burned into it but one was split in half and it went down so he would pretend to eat them and then he would push them down while standing in front of it
